I have a McLeod set up like that. It has no provision to keep it from spinning. The hoses will keep it from spinning. Sounds crazy but it only has to overcome the resistance of the bearing, which is not much.
I read multiple threads about people complaining but nobody has wrecked a hose with this set up. When I did see a video of it in action. I didn't like the body moving around back and forth a few degrees. Seems to me the it is not good for aluminum threads to be constantly moving.
So my set up I ran a small bracket. It's actually plumber's pipe support. Not strong but plenty strong enough. It only need to hold it from shaking on the threads. It been that way in my car for 2 years, approxmately 10,000kms.

https://flic.kr/p/23xQwE5It's not pretty but the idea was to stop it from oscillating on the threads. It is the threads and the O ring on the shaft's job to center everything. I just wanted to stop the rotationanl movement with something other than the hoses. I was prepared to fabricate something better looking and solid but when I mocked this up. It was solid and had enough compliance where I'm confident the assembly is stil centered and not pushed off center by my bracket. I can reach up there with it all assembled and it's not moving, even if you push it a bit. I have some video of it with the engine running and the pedal going in and out but I can not seem to find it.
