Looking for a good quality oil cap for a 70 440 sixpac engine. mine leaks and the rubber sealing part is harder than a wedding night wood.

The parts house caps are always crap, and I hat a bleeding cap and messy Valve Cover.....

Pretty sure you can replace the seal. If you can't find a one new....it would be pretty easy to cut from gasket stock. Otherwise the Stant cap is a pretty good replacement. I have a few if you have trouble finding one.

I tried that - cutting gasket material to fit on mine . . . still seeps . . (small block, but same issue) . . . I have gone through the PCV system and it works great, so it's not like it is pressurized . .

Assuming the sealing flange in the valve cover is dead flat...
I've replaced the cap seal with a rubber donor from a parts-store gas cap or radiator cap.
ID is the important thing, OD can be trimmed pretty easily.
If the cap fits loosely, and it's not from cap or cover damage, you can double up the seal.

Its a brand new AMD cover, not super happy with the thin seal area on the VC, but it should seal. Ill double the seal on the new cap ans see what happens In the past I have crimped the steel tabs on the cap to fit tighter, but that didnt help this cap.
