I street alot in the summer season with 3 or 4 track weekends.I did get over 10k miles out of comp 848's that have been superceeded. My last rebuild I had 4 lifters go away rather quickly. So no more rebuilds for me,just buy new ones.

I've been running the 829's in my 499 for the last 12 years. I've had a set rebuilt and replaced that set with new over that time period. No problems or failures in that time. My car runs low 10's and never sees 7000 rpm. Mild cam only .620 lift. fwiw I had good luck with the 829s when I was running 10s with a smaller cam too. The whole going faster thing with bigger everything is where the problems started. I should have included that info. It is an older cast iron RB World block . It is unbushed and yes I would like to but am on the fence about it . It’s another part of the budget I am balancing. It does currently use solid body solid rollers now. Oil pressure has been pretty good . You will probably be a lot better off than I am. My block has huge holes in the lifter bores where the galley is drilled through.

I put a set of Crower ultra full body lifters in my last pump gas street and strip motor after breaking several wheels on the Mopar brand lifters , 250+ Lbs. on the seats and 730 lbs. over the nose, shifted at 7000+ RPM for a lot of passes and 3000+ street miles in 8 yrs with no issues I'm not sure if they still offer them but if they do I would buy another set in heart beat with no hesitations

Meant to call comp on Friday to see what the story is with their rebuild program as its all over their sales and instructional literature , and I, learning from folks that it’s no longer. My day ran out before I had a moment to. At the PRI show the Comp guy told me that the vendor that they buy the parts from will no longer sell replacement parts. Comp will rebuild them till they run out of parts.

Where do the parts come from to build their new lifters? Doug [/quote] I asked that question. So best I can tell the vendor also makes the lifters. Just won't sell the parts separately anymore. They said they would continue to inspect them just won't be able to repair.

Remember: as lift goes up, the spring rate needed to get the open pressure goes down (counter-intuitive).
