Went and had a look today. The for sale sign in the windshield said 32.5k or bo. After negotiating back and forth I said I'd pay that price. He told me he doesn't know if he'd take the 35k listed on this craigslist add just that it had to be at least that price and then he'd need a day or two to think about it. He seemed like a good guy, but I traveled 3 hours and brought cash. When he turned me down I turned to him and said you have a lot more interest in this car? Then he said since he talked with me at 8am he'd had big offers and interest all over the country. I wish he had called me on route I would have passed, I don't operate that way. I would have sold it to a person that brought cash, but that's just me lol. The car was fairly decent has a few bubbles on the hood and here and there. The rear end looked like something had leaked on it and a little of the same with the motor and tranny, but these old cars tend to leak over time lol.

Under carriage was ok had a little surface rust in spots, but considering the resto was at least 20 years ago and being in New York State you have to expect that, plus he drives it. Took me for a spin and had her out last week, so salt doesn't seem to worry him. Even though I brought cash he would not let me drive her. Personally I think for a clone car 30 -35k is top dollar. There was a 71 black clone 340/4 speed 2 weeks ago near Reading, PA on FB marketplace that was similar to this car that started at 35k went down to 30 and they told me 28k would buy her. I wish I'd made the 6 hour trip, but with the Holiday I could not make it. I've seen a few others and even bought a nice real 71 bs cuda last year for less than both these clones, but I thought I'll buy one that's more what I'm looking for in color and sell my real cuda rather than strip mine down and paint her black. Well just wasn't meant to be all and all not too bad a car at least!

"Happy New Year"
Bill AKA Ozoner

Wow!

Guy isn’t even sure he would take his asking price, and you offer his asking price on his window sign. Wouldn’t let you drive it.
You are a cash buyer.

I would think it’s kinda obvious, but IMO the guy is a complete DICK!

What did the engine look like? “Stock Correct” clone or modified?

Yes it was not the way I would operate lol. Engine was a 1968 340, looked to be all stock. Fairly decent looking car, but without driving her who knows. It seemed as he was driving she was straight and all, but then again he didn't take his hand off the wheel to show me. I think he has an offer or maybe a trade that he can't refuse because originally he was thinking about taking my 69 all original Roadrunner plus cash, but when I arrived he said no not interested just cash. No biggie gives me something to talk about lol.

I give you a lot of credit, you are taking this a lot better than I would. If I showed up with cash especially the full amount to buy a car and then was told that I wasn't able to buy it and he wanted more, I would flip out. If he wanted more he should have put the price up a bit higher, you can always come down. It's a dick move to go up. We will keep looking for you. Something will pop up better than what this guy has. Thank you Doc,
Actually what the deal was is his craigslist ad is for 35k, but his for sale sign is for 32.5k or B/O I went up to 33k and he told me no now that it's on craigslist and there is much interest and more or less 35k is the starting price lol. I really think somebody offered him maybe more than the craigslist ad or a really great trade offer before I arrived. It is what it is I'm alright with it, just thought It was a little funny and different lol

Happy New Year to all the Mopar people!

Sounds pretty goofy to me, but if it has rust bubbles maybe it's better you didn't buy it.
Now, tell me about your Road Runner - maybe by PM so I'm not hijacking the thread...

I think it was a blessing that it didn’t work out for you - up here, it could be a rust bucket.

Yep, that's a pretty ignorant thing to pull on someone, I've had it happen to me on a Viper.

I got so sick of dealing with wishy-washy, Flaky people: like it or not Folks, that was the beauty of Ebay: it's a contract and they have to go through with it. twocents

I don't doubt hes had offers out the wazoo. Too bad that has nothing to do with actually showing up with cash. He should have taken your offer. Its a clone and priced accordingly. Hes just being greedy and it will probably backfire on him.

I’m the guy after the guy after you @Ozoner lol I offered him 35, and I offered to buy his road runner to in a package deal. I’m suppose to make the road trip in the morning. There’s one guy ahead of me that is on his way there now. A friend went and looked at it for me and said it was DECENT. But yes originally a 318 auto car. The owner seems nice but knows it’s priced right. Doesn’t give much info over the phone. I’ll let you guys know what happens lol

I see he had his daughter put it on FB marketplace last night. No doubt it will sell , but I could have maybe talked him into taking the 35k but he wanted to wait a day or so because he had another offer after me that must have flopped. I just don't like the way he conducts business. Good luck and be careful. Also let us know if he took the for sale sign for 32.5k out of the window...WOW lol

The plot thickens. Why are people lined up to buy this car? Especially if it has some Rust issues. Is it the price? I'm not up to speed on the Clone cars. Color combo is definitely cool.

No sir. EBay is not a contract for an automobile or land. Been there done that!

Not judging here, but why is a 318 clone car worth a solid $35k? I’ll admit that it looks nice.

Been down that road several times over the years .

No one can make ANYONE pay for something via ebay. Be it via buy it now or high bid
