Paint. The only items not painted are the water neck, pulleys and alternator.

I got tired of all the white corrosion on my aluminum.
Everything gets painted now.

I prefer my engines to be one color, rather than a bunch of colors. I'll make an exception on valve covers & big pans for race motors, or of course Hemi valve covers. Maybe that's the "underplay" old street-racer thing, or the restoration influence, or trying to be artsy. Been painting the race motors grey forever, since working on an old ex-Penske TransAm car. Kind of an industrial look, and easy to see if anything escapes a gasket. Never liked the staining or white corrosion that bare aluminum gets, arouses my OCD

Nyalic clear coating works great , heat resistant too. Just checked out their website. Gonna have to go have a look-see, got a retailer very close by!

Musical instrument manufactures use some type of clear coating on horns and such. It's long lasting and doesn't change color like clear plastic spray does.
July 19th should be "Drive Like Rockford Day". R.I.P. Jimmie.

Is this from a rattle can or spray guy? Looks great, really uniform and doesn't actual look painted. I've seen some paint their junk aluminum but it comes out silver and looks horrendous.

No pictures, but I coated my bare rpm heads, and intake, as well as my block, water pump and housing, alternator, and various other parts, when my engine went together in 2015. They all still look new. I used RPM from ECS. Car has many miles on it now, and gets driven to Carlisle 3 hours each way. All I have to do is wipe things down occasionally. Never seen oxidation.
