I'd love to know where John Petrie's Coronet (Argyle Canadian Highlander) wandered off to?

How about the late Dale Mineer's "Miss Coronet?" I remember seeing that car around 1997-8 at the MMCI show at Quaker City and couldn't believe how hideous the paint job was, lol. The more and more I think about that car though nowadays, I like it.

Dale's son still has the Coronet. He raced it at the Clay City Mopar meet last October. SAME PAINT!! Some chassis work was done in Kenova many, many years ago by Dave Mosley and Rich Hedrick on that car. Kinda hard to forget that paint job.

Back in 1965, there were 3 A990's running out of Ray Christian's Garage in Harrisburg,Ohio. The "Apex" The "Daring Dodge" and a Plymouth called "The Dictater". What happened to those 3 cars? I remember Ray telling me he won 80 straight races with one of the Dodges. Ray was the man that had his fingers on many cars in a large radius of his shop. There are some great stories about him.

Alex,

Was the car that Harry has red when John had it or was it brown? I have a picture from Brainerd back in the seventies that has my dad's chevelle wagon next to a red hemi with #5554.

The Dictater was a dark brown(maybe) and driven by Slim Howard. I have a photo of it somewhere.

Hi guys. We have a 1965 a990 Dodge Coronet, that we are selling for a good customer. It is now restored very much back to as delivered from the dealership condition, but for a few items. It was sold New at Cicero Dodge in New York and is in both Galen’s Registry as #06 of 53 when registered and #18 Darrel Davis’ book. The VIn is W051194278. We know that it was painted a medium blue prior, but do not have any race history. Seeking any info on the car. Thanks in advance.

There was a car called the Hurricane owned by Dave Cain, out of a Chrysler dealer in Massachusetts. Mike Riefer in Owensville Missouri has it in his car collection now, and I helped David Cain the orginal owners son who now lives in Kansas City build a clone car to race in nostalgia super stock. last winter.

Another, that be bought brandy new in 65 is now onwed and has been restored by Mark Viera in Turlock, CA I believe.

Hopefully Julie or Jared will correct mf if I'm wrong...

We got the car from Robin in 1996 according to the bill of sale. I'm trying to piece together that car's history a little bit better since we're in the process of selling it.

I've got a bill of sale from Robin Pellisier to Harry dated 5/17/96. I've got another bill of sale dated 4/23/87 that lists Anatoli Polewik of Ford Dodge, IA as the owner. Previous owner is shown as a Larry Wikoff from Washington, IA. Looks like a gentlemen by the name of David A Zeisser (sp? Can't read the handwriting) bought it from Polewik. I don't know any of the car's history in the years between Mr. Wikoff and the dealership.

I also have a couple of old timeslips (10.1's @ 132) that show car #5554. Anyone know who that might have been?

I also have the window sticker for the car. Was originally sold by McMahon Motors in Rawlins, WY. VIN# R051185655 on all documentation. Same # on the door jam.

We sold the "Hemi Countdown" (the one Harry bought new in '65) to Mark Vieira in '06 or '07, I don't remember which. Mark did a great job restoring the car to the way it looked in '65. It still is tubbed and has a chromoly cage, but paint scheme is exactly how it was campaigned in the '60's. Last I saw, it was for sale on the DuPont Registry website for $150k.

I'd love to strike it rich and buy both the cars and the "Hemi Countdown II" Dart now owned by a collector in NY. Nothing would make me happier than to own all of my grandfather's ex-racecars.

I realize this is a 10 year old thread but I will answer it anyway. I don't have that much to add. I believe Dave Zizzet (misspelling, but I believe phonetically correct) bought it from Toli. I knew Robin and he wanted me to go up to St Louis to pick up the car for him and bring it back to Arkansas until he could come and get it. The date was Super Bowl Sunday whatever year the Giants won. When I got there, it wouldn't have impressed a normal person, but to me, a 65 guy, it was a wow. Not that it looked good really, but it was a near virgin 65 with window sticker and one cheap coat of red paint over the original Sea Foam Green. To a guy like me, it was a wow. I begged Robin to go find another car to cut up (he wanted to go Super Stock racing) but he wouldn't listen and made a race car out of it. Years later, when I was shopping for a 65 to play with, Harry and I talked several times. I made him a very good offer. The last time we talked he said how many years it had been since he raced it, and then he said "I know I'm never going to race it again" and then there was a long silence. This is usually the point where the seller says come and get it. But he didn't.
