Mine need some heat from a propane torch before I was able to get it out. I remember it fighting us a bit.

I am trying to remember why, but I had an issue getting that sucker off. I remember having to use a set of really good vice grips. And, of course, a hammer. Am I off thinking not all of those adapters had the hex key? I will try to dig through my notes. No your not off, both of the 03 blocks I have here don't have the hex , the 6.1 I have is an 07 and it had the hex .

The ‘09 I swapped out had the 12 mm hex inside. Went to NAPA and got a set of 1/2” drive impact Allen wrenches and a breaker bar and it came right out.

03 07 04X2 05 11X2 and a don't remember. Not a one of them has a hex inside or out. Ric says the hex started with the change to 22X1.5mm oil filter, they have the Hex the 3/4-16 don't , My 6.1 block was changed over to 22mmx1.5mm...which is why that one has it.

I used a pipe wrench on the ones I have. These are actually standard thread on the block side so use a Derale one that accepts old school standard thread filters to get a better selection of filters.
