Wow i just checked and even the 419AB mds cam is $195 at Eastcoast.

Lets hope its just a supply restriction that forced the price increase. When the HC blocks were on backorder they doubled the price. When they came off back order the price halved again

I finally got the car running and to the track.
Crudely set AFR to 12.0 in the tune and with competely stock car spark tables it went 12.05@111 at 3525lbs with 1.68 60 ft with a 2200ft DA 1st run and did the 3hr round trip to the track and home again

Still have alot of tuning left to do hope to find another 20-30 hp once tuned properly

Peak power is currently around 6600 rpm and has a super flat power curve with it only dropping off noticable after 7k. The low end torque from the VVT and dual runner intake is incredible far better than anything ive driven of similar cubes in the LA platform and the previous converter is flashing quite a bit higher than it did previously

Ill keep it updated as I progress in the new year

That is pretty good, 12.0 is rich rich, try 12.5-13.0 and I am sure it will pick up a tenth or two. Not bad for a first trip!

Not bad for a first outing. I would think it would pick up quite a bit with tuning. You should be able to improve that 60' time a bunch with the gearing and converter that is in there.

Looking forward to seeing what you can get out of this combo, that 6.4 intake great up to 7k , then it hits a brick ,

The 6.4 intake definitely does not seem like a restriction on this engine. Ive had it to 7400 rpm a dozen times and it never seems to have the power taper off hard.

I dont plan to spend a whole lot of time on maximising the combo but ill take it to the track a few more times and play with the cam timing once i take a little rear gear out of it

yeah those 4.88s are a bit steep for that combo, either way your making low 400hp from the combo,
