There is a problem with my air condition and I,m planning on getting it fixed in spring. Currently when i put the defroster on the compressor keeps kicking on and off. Would it cause a problem to pull the fuse for the winter so it stops kicking on and off?????

system is designed to do that. it fast cycles because it is low on freon. fix leak and it should stop fast cycle. compressors were locking up over winter before that so they designed it to keep compressors turning to prevent lockup.

.....it also helps dry the air which aids in a faster defrost.

If it’s never had a compressor that era was famous for leaking out the front seal as a vapor which was very hard to detect. It didn’t leak bad, but often required a yearly service.

As stated above it's low on Freon. If it's the first time it may have a very slow leak. Recharge and see if problem happens again. The clicking means it's just at the point were the system cuts out for low Freon.
