The 12 had the battery saver light come on the other day.Pulled the battery as many said that is usually the problem.It was OE so new battery.Fired it up yesterday and great alt a like 14 volts.Wife drove today and no problem.She was leaving for work and just the battery light came on.Took her and started it again and its ok then battery light comes on.Checked voltage and was at like 14.2.then when lights on its like 12.2 nothing on and like 11.9 with lights on so its not charging.Went back out and started it again no light turn on light heater etc then after like a minute or so light comes on again..Alt looks like a pain to just remove to test.Any ideas?Rocky

typically when batt light comes on, it is alt. but have seen wiring causing batt light to come on also. look at wiring to see if varmint might have done some damage, then replace atl. other possibility, if computer controls charge rate of alt. time to get out the darts or take to professional repair shop.

Had it to one shop today.Wasnt charging when I left home.Tested all was great at 14.5 volts.Monday It will go to the shop that fixed my sosns girl friends Nitro.they have more an better scanners.Driving me nuts.Rocky

Alternator

TIPM issue. common and chrysler knew about it but no recal. typically your radio and accessories stay on and kill your battery. Watch through the window after you shut the car off and exit to make sure the radio and start engine lights go out. new tipm and programming is supposed to fix it if thats your issue.

Took it in Monday.Alt finally died over weekend.New alt installed and working great so far.Last alt in DILs Nitro took out the computer which I was worried about.Hated to pay to have any work done but without the stuff I had at the shop when I was wotking it tough to diag.That and cold nasty weather .Wasnt all that bad as new alt in and all was 500.Rocky
