Awww, so sad.....and an honor for us that you want to share your loss. Many of us know this pain and truly hurt a bit with you, and I hope reading some of the comments helps a little Of course only time really numbs the pain some. I'm so glad your mom has you to help her.

He's from a very admirable generation, and clearly was a good man and very loved. I hope you have time to take care of yourself too.

Larry

Thank you all - now there's some really nice, comforting comments & sentiments. My dad was a 'benchmark' to me - someone to learn from & follow throughout the rest of my life.

Here's a picture of him when he was a younger man - and no, my two brothers (now only one) never got his red hair either! Miss you Dad. (I'm the little guy in the middle)

Sorry for your loss my friend. Only met your dad a couple times, and he seemed like a genuinely nice man. Knowing you as I do, I DO know he did a good job raising you and your siblings. Hang in there. I know this has been a particularly difficult week for your family. Your mom will need you now, and I know you'll be there for her as you were for your dad in his decline. Prayers continue for you, and your family. angel

Sorry to hear of this loss. It's obviously hard to deal with, but sounds like you have great memories of him.

I feel your pain. My Dad passed in 2012 at 71 due to complications from Parkinson. frowwn

While I have pics of my Dad (my avatar is a pic of him), I don't have any videos or recordings of him. I still can't bring myself to erase the last voicemail I got from him 8 yrs ago. whiney

What a wonderful and sweet family picture that is, and the love truly can be seen in that great picture smile

Satelite73, my God I feel your pain. I lost my treasured Mom in 2011, and everytime I send an email and have her address pop up as suggestion "Mom", it hurts. But how do you delete your beloved Mom's email contact? frown

We somehow just keep on going.

Larrymopar - thanks so much. & Sattelite73, I know what you mean about keeping VM's & other stuff like that. In the past 10 or so years, about 7 of my reps have cashed it in. Pretty much all of my reps that I work with have become true friends, & when they go, it really hurts. I NEVER delete their email contacts or phone #'s either. I also keep VM's if I have saved them - it's comforting to me to have something to remember them by. And losing Stu - we are all reeling from his loss - wow so much going on that hurts.

What the hell - we should be talking about fast cars, good beer, & rock & roll! But those aren't everything in life - as a matter of fact, they are secondary to our loved ones as we can see here.

I am very sorry for your loss. My dad passed 18 years ago and I still hear him in my head right before I am about to do something stupid.

Sorry for your loss. Talking with you last year about that Belvedere I was interested in, I could tell you are a stand-up guy. Your dad taught you well. You should be proud of that.

This is something we all have to face at some point. My parents are aging and having health challenges and I know they won't be around forever. Take comfort in the good times you had.

Again, thank you all for your kind words & sentiments. Yep - we were blessed with really great parents & thankfully I listened & heeded their advice MOST of the time! We were especially lucky in that they were both school teachers, so we always had a summer vacation. We traveled somewhere every summer, be it camping, or a road trip somewhere - it was a lot of fun. From all of those, there are some really funny stories when we look back.

One golden memory of my father, involved the decision to buy my first car - back in the summer of 1976. My dad did NOT like Chrysler products - he was a Ford man back then. He knew I wanted a Cuda & he was not trying to talk me out of my intent. The day I found the car I bought, I called my dad to bring me some of my $$ for a deposit - I did not have it on me. Also, the car was a stick & I could not drive a stick. He brought one of my $50.00 bills & looked the car over. Then my dad drove the car, with me in the back seat & the car owner in the other front bucket. After a short drive, my dad took me aside & said: "If you are going to get a Cuda, THIS is the Cuda to get! It's been well taken care of." The rest was history - it was a great, dependable car. I sold it in 1980. And I know that my dad liked the car too - he even drove it a few times. How could you not love a car like that?

Here's a pic of him in the Navy my brother just sent me after digging it out.
