And FWIW, wind-generated power hardly factors in at all here.

Even in the areas of the country that get a lot of power from coal, EVs are still cleaner.

I thought for sure they had an even newer map than 2016. In any case, a newer map would just show even better numbers laugh2

Even accounting for eventual disposal of the batteries?

I don't think that report takes disposal into account. I don't want to say that it's a non-issue, but I think it's going to a smaller issue than most people think. At their "end of life", unless they've been damaged in a wreck, they still have quite a bit of capacity remaining, just not enough to be ideal for a car. A lot of them will likely go to stationary storage instead of being scrapped. Tesla is working on a battery pack that's rated for a million miles.

https://www.mckinsey.com/industries...-the-newest-value-pool-in-energy-storage

If nothing else, it won't be like the coal-ash ponds leaching heavy metals into aquifers, or the dams breaking and flooding rivers.

If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Shawn Nag @shawn_nag

@Tesla biggest supercharger at Kettleman city, Ca, around 40 chargers but the line is 30 min. Long. Almost every supercharger from LA to SFO is backlogged. Tesla super charging network has not kept up. Spent more time charging than driving. No more long trips on Tesla.

Sunny Walia @crazytoon

@Tesla I think you can do better with charging situation. This is at Kettleman location. Been sitting here in line for 40 mins and looks like half way there.

It looks like Kettleman does have 40 chargers. Assuming it takes each car 40 minutes to charge (which seems high), then on average a car should cycle out every minute.

There must be one heck of a line if it was backed up that much shock Which also shows just how many cars are out there now. Updating them to v3 superchargers would make a huge difference.

Holiday travel is always the worst.

Yeah, it's still on. Sajak was sick recently, according to the TV show my wife watches. Sounds like he's competing with Trebek.

What can I say, I go to work, come home and eat dinner and then go to work on art. TV? Who has time for that? I don't watch much...

The other truth for me is that I'm not in the market for ANY vehicles, new, old, Tesla or anything. Too busy working toward retirement.

When I bought my current Ram at the end of '14 I told my wife it was the LAST new vehicle I'd ever buy. Hope it lasts long enough to outlive me. grin

My only thing about Tesla is that I'm not convinced that Elon Musk isn't somewhat of a snake oil salesman. Yeah, I have ZERO "proof" of that. I'm just skeptical. Honestly hope I'm wrong. Also, the design of this truck IS worthy of criticism. Seriously. laugh2

I think the market for this "truck" are the people that think a Honda Ridgeline is a truck.

Bingo. Someone gets it.

But it's still a truck. Me? Give me a Cobra Jet Ranchero.

A snake oil salesman that every manufacturer worth its salt is gunning for, like Porsche:

10-4! up It's definitely dog eat dog. And I would fully expect ALL of the competitors to do everything they can to put him out of business, ethically and otherwise. There's some history, definitely at least in this country of just that, right?

And yeah, just like politicians, I don't trust ANY of them. I must be getting more cynical as I get older. laugh2
