I had a long baffle welded below the vacuum pickup fitting after having the same issues on my new motor this year I had to tie rap a rag around it at the races once this year to stop the dripping The old motor with a different valve cover set up never had any oil drip out of the breather, never I use one vacuum line to the valve cover per GZ instruction with the relief valve beside it also My motors barely have any vacuum at idle and only 5 to 6 inches revved up so the pump will go back for rebuilding this winter, I would like to see 10 to 15 inches revved up

I see many cars with the regulator on the engine side. This means air flows through the engine drawing oil mist through. Mounting the regulator post engine will minimize flow through the engine. It's mainly water that comes out when i drain the catch can.

Nothing but steam in mine. I ran it 41 passes and just drained it for the first time. A few drops of water/oil in it, maybe a tbsp. I think a lot of the large amounts of oil many see are from engine that are not sealed well or have poor oil control. FWIW I do not regulate any of mine.

I don't have a problem w/ this either. I have a Moroso 4 vane pump and the regulator is mounted on the inlet of the pump. I use an Aerospace components catch can. There's never much in the can, but I drain it after I get home from the track. Mostly water and a little oil.

I suspect mine pulls air there. Doug

FWIW...I run a normal Fel-Pro rear main seal installed in the normal orientation. Same w/ the front seal. Some people turn them around backwards, but I've never tried it. Same w/ the SB chevy we run.

I run two breathers. That along with a baffled vacuum line from the front of a valvecover. I run pushrod oiling AND spraybar oiling which puts a lot of oil mist in the motor. If you have enough pump capcity to need a vacuum regulater then you are running more air through the motor and carring mist to the pump with it. Reducing pump speed till you need little or no regulater will reduce oil coming out of the pump. I don't need a regulater to get 10 inchs of vacuum, as much as i want. Not using a regulater also makes it easier to spot problems. If the vacuum is less during a run, time to look for trouble. My last outing vacuum dropped. The pan bolts were loose. No more cork gaskets for me! I had checked them twice and the gaskets still compressed more.

Doug I am with Al, nothing but water, have 11 inches at idle, 17 downtrack, double lip seal on the rear main (fastfish), the timing chain cover seal has 2 springs and the backside was filled with RTV (cured) before being installed. If i had a Jesel belt drive it would seal better. Joe

I have a motor that I intentionally over oil through the pushrods, and use almost unrestricted spray bars as well. I did it t see how much better the spring life would be. Even with 2 pickup points on the covers it would flood the vacuum system with oil. I went to my default breather attachments, Z baffle burn down breathers that you see mostly on blown alky stuff. They're ugly, and stick way up, but even on that oil derrick all I get is water smoke. I run nothing fancy for a rear main oil seal and it is installed in the standard manner. My engine seen 19+-" of vacuum and the dragster is a tad more. These are both big stroke deals.
