Anyone have some information they can share on the correct crankshaft pulley for a 1970 340 engine? Some details about my 340 is the following:

1. Stock forged crankshaft
2. Stock damper (with uneven bolt pattern to secure crankshaft pulley)
3. Aluminum water pump
4. No power steering
5. No A/C

It appears the crankshaft pulleys that I have procured are for a 69 setup with a cast iron water pump. Therefore, when the crankshaft pulley is installed, there is a small misalignment with the aluminum water pump pulley.

If you have a dimension of the height/offset of the crankshaft pulley, it would be greatly appreciated.

Could just be factory tolerances. That spacing is going to depend on the thickness of the gasket behind the timing cover and the water pump. It also depends on how the water pump was built. If everything is assembled correctly then I'd use a shim behind the water pump pulley to line it up perfect.

actually the cast iron pump is shorter than the aluminum pump. you can check, the cast iron pump is 4.625 from gasket surf. to the pulley mounting surf. i couldn't get to my alum. pump currently. looks like your water pump pulley is for the C.I. pump.

I have a 70 pulley at the shop and maybe a 69. I’ll see if I can measure them.
