I asked a question about the correct dash paint a while back and just ran into a bunch of dead ends. One place I called said they had the correct paint but they wanted a ton of money for it. Several other places told me that it wasn't available anymore. I ended up working with a guy at a local body shop and he mixed up a batch for me. He found a source for the powder which is added to the paint to give it the suede texture. I think it came out pretty good. My car isn't a resto anyway so it is going to work just fine for me. Not sure if this helps anyone doing a resto or not, but it seems better than nothing.

Yours came out nice. Ingenuity comes in handy. My 70 Duster has the Jamaican blue also, I added flattener to the gloss door trim paint. A little trail and error and it came out fine, good texture by holding gun off about a foot and dusting the last coat. a technique I learned before high build primers came about. It flash dries a little before hitting the surface. I'll see if I can get a pic, haven't installed the dash yet.

The "powder" added, was that by chance some raw powder coating powder added to the paint for texture?...

Yes it was some sort of powder. Here is a copy of the paint card.
