I still like magazines. I get HR, time for reading I got, just received an offer for CC for 3 years at $21, sounds like a deal.?
I can tolerate a Camaro every issue, as long as there is enough tech/etc to go along with it.
I am not interested in a HR carbon copy. I'm down to one Mopar Mag, as so much is is just repeat/rehash, and will buy others off the rack if its .useful.etc.

I have subscribed to HR and CC for several years but am not renewing this time. Every time I think I've seen everything you could swap a LS into they come up with something else.

Agreed....it used to be Camaro Craft...now its LS Craft

it mostly boils down to what you think you can learn from other makes.
i subscribe to a bunch of magazines, and have done so for far longer than i have been married, which is 40yrs. with that said, i always use the cards inside the mags when renewing my subscriptions to get the best deals, which are always the three year subscriptions.
although HR and CC mainly cater to the ls crowd, if a person studies the articles for things that may help, or ideas that can be adaptable to OUR preferred brand, then the magazines are worth it.
just seeing what the competition is up to never hurts.
just my opinion. your mileage will vary.

Personally, I cannot stand any magazines that aren't Mopar specific. I'm so tired of the Chevy leaning magazines and TV shows that I can't take any more. Maybe that's what the public wants, but not this public.

I've written more than 20 articles for Car Craft over the last 3 years so the odds are pretty high that you'll find either a Mopar dyno testing article or some sort of Holley EFI test in a magazine.

I've dumped all the Mopar specific rags and only keep Car Craft and Hot Rod.

For all the complaints about Camaro Craft and LS Rod, I'd say the say the same thing about Six Pak Muscle and Hemi Collectors Guide. I mean really, how many paint dab restorations can you look at in one lifetime. At least the Camaro and LS builds are different in approach or installation. A Hemi car is a Hemi car and there were only so many of them and Six Paks made. How long before we've seen them all, if we haven't already. Its gotten to the point where we are now looking at restores of restores that were sub par from the 90s. Its the rare Mopar build that deviates from restored to day 2 modified. However, I also realize I'm in the minority so they rest of you can have all the Mopar mags you want.

Hot Rod seems like a bit high end uber dollar builds that is offset with their tv shenaningans and misc reader involved stunts like Drag Week and Power Tour. Car Craft is a little more down to earth mix of throw back cars, barn finds, drag racers, street machines, Trosley cartoons, Andy's articles, and blown up parts. Yes, both of these are 50% chevy, 25% ford and the rest is everything else. For myself, I'm more interested in the hobby overall than just the make. So these two fit me.

The last time I picked up a copy of Car Craft, it was half the # of pages as Hot Rod, and the issue looked like it was 2/3 advertising to 1/3 content. It's fuse is lit, like many traditional magazines these days.

I subscribe to CC and HR. I like CC because it’s varity. I like Andy’s Duster project in that I’ve seen the car first hand. Love to see some articles on his 65 Coronet test mule. HR has gotten better over the past few year. Good reading on drag week and Power Tour. Also more articles on the salt flats and other land speed events which interest me. Kinda miss Alena’s articles but there’s a young guy that’s been writing some pretty good short articles. Friedbuger writes some interesting Food For Thought articals usually found in the back of the mag.

As far as the Mopar rags I only get MCG. It’s been getting real stale over the past few years. I know a lot of other Mopar hobbies that are also kinda tired of MCG.

All these mags are just mostly advertising.

Car Craft is actually my favorite magazine. Yes there is a lot of GM stuff but I can still learn from what is in the pages. To me it has always been one of the best magazines for the average Joe. Lots of cars that you can relate to in my opinion and I like the tech.

I got 3 years for $18 bucks and they threw in a free clock, so it was an easy decision for me.

Yep,count the add pages and see how that actually relates to the magazine subject.

I even gave up the Mopar specific ones because it seemed to be the same stuff. I'm weird. I want different things more often. More C-bodies, more F-bodies, a few more A-bodies too. It seemed to be almost exclusively E and B. One of them had a Diplomat Police car build and I loved it. I know that's not going to sell a lot of mags all the time, but breaking things up once in awhile would keep me subscribing. But it wasn't often enough.

I like Uncle Tonys Garage channel and his low tech-low buck approach. But as the magazine and TV shows using all brand new high dollar parts for even a basic lo po build is not realistic I find Tony Defeos using (and he recommends using) stock original parts not realistic. Our cars are now 50 plus years old and the chances of finding a good usable factory distributor, ignition box. carburetor ect is no longer practical and new aftermarket (alot of it is junk) is the only choice for many things. I understand Tony has a personal stash of good used OEM parts so he has that option. In the 1980s even early mid 90s it was easy and cheap to obtain and run the ultra reliable factory stuff. Even hi perf iron exh manifolds were easy and cheap to find. Not anymore. In the age of the internet Ill pass on car magazines.

Keep old mopars alive.

Back in the mid 90's when i was 16 and wrenching on my first car, David Freiburger's articles in Car craft were my inspiration. Freiburger and Dulcich are two guys i have never met that are partly responsible for me building cars and learning how to do what i do. I always liked how Car craft was a little different than the other mags. I say get the subscription - whats 7 bucks a year?
