Starting to do the reassembly on m 1972 Charger Rallye and need some help. The guy I had working on it did not pull the door latch assemblies and they got painted over. So I need to know if I should just clean and clear those, have them iodized, and if so, are they iodized silver or gold? Anyone have pics and info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks. was not sure what it was supposed to be. the guy restoring the car wants to clean them to bare metal and clear it so it looks natural. nobody would probably see it, but if it looks decent, might go that route.

If he is "restoring" your car and wants to go that route you better watch over everything he does because it is not proper.

I cleaned mine up and because they were so covered in grease the finish was still actually nice. I just carefully cleaned them and re greased mine.

I believe he means 'anodized', which is done on aluminum. Assuming those parts are made of steel, they can be galvanized for corrosion protection. Galvanized parts can then be dyed in different colors

Wow,
I did at least Blast mine and have a local Plater Tripple Plate them so they would come out with a real finish.
Not polishing them gave a Satin look cost was minimal. And I used SS Srews

Thanks again, that was what I was trying to say, just didn't know the proper words. The guy doing the work gave me a good price for reassembly of the car and he has done a bunch of mopars, so not too worried about most of it. Just want a nice car I can enjoy on cruise night's. He's kinda impatient and trying to get him do things my was has been a challenge. May still have those sent in since the restoration assembly will still take a few months.
