Sure has taken a long time to get this point.

I can't believe no company has stepped up and filled the vacuum left by the toyota hilux pickup turning into the too big overpriced tacoma, tons of small business owner operators who would love a simple, sturdy, cheap, small utility truck you don't need a second mortgage on your house and a step ladder to gt in the bed. A nice hilux still brings nearly what it did new. Don't give me no crap either about a unibody ridgeline/brat... they don't fit the sturdy requirement that well, also on the used market a bed is easily replaceable with a frame and someone who uses a truck like a truck ruins the bed faster than wanna be truck people. When I was serving my 5 years hard time at honda the real truck people hated those ridgelines because with real use the beds fell apart and you could not just pick up a good bed at the JY and throw it on.

I think it's a smart marketing move, but I certainly wouldn't buy one, but then I'm certainly not the average truck purchaser.

The Hilux we all know and love isn't a safe vehicle as it was like mine here. Crash standards made everything heavy and pricey. I don't know much about the current Hilux sold globally but it looks cool. Bean counters say Americans want big trucks, SUVs, and crossovers hence fewer cars or none like Ford. Secondly, I still don't get your distaste for Ridgelines. My needs changed and I sold my '02 Ram 3500 V-10 and my Hilux to buy my Honda. I can still tow a car occasionally and still haul stuff in a short bed. And take passengers. It works for me now and if it don't, it's gone. Hyundai wants to dip into the market like Honda and offer something for the loyal buyer so they don't have go outside the brand for the occasional truck user. BTW, the Gladiator is catching my eye.

I wouldn't take a Hyundai, a Honda, a Toyota, a Nissan anything even if it was free. I am right there with you! Hyndai's and Kia's are for non-car people, they only care about the warranty, not anything else...

There is more than one Tiburon running around here with a supercharger on it. The twin turbo V6 G70s and Kia Stingers run damn good too.

Well that may very well be, but I'm quite familiar with the Dodge lineup, it has served me very well for 36 years and counting since I have been able to drive. And no, I don't have a "new" Dodge either. Newest being a 2001. I still believe in American made (not just "assembled" here) why change now? Its getting harder but I do what I can to avoid "made in China" too. Born in live in, work in the USA, sorry I still don't have a desire for a Japanese or Korean car or truck. Probably never will. But unfortunately I think that there may be a day when we can't find made in USA, I just hope that it's not during my lifetime.

Ram trucks are made in Mexico. Not mine. Mine were built in Michigan. ( Old square body Dakotas) and I'm shopping for a D/W 250. But even so Id take Mexico over Korea.

You are certainly entitled to your own viewpoint but Chrysler is far from an American company anymore. You can see what we own in my signature but I have also owned several Hyundais. I work there, I know them, parts are cheap, etc. etc. So it only makes sense for me. I still own a 2009 Accent as a beater/spare car. Hyundai/Kia employs a lot of Americans and their Mobis parts division even supplies many parts and assembly modules to FCA. Hyundai is probably more financially stable than any other vehicle manufacturer in the world due to their many and varied products from passenger vehicles to container ships to semi trailers and heavy construction equipment. So say what you will but they have been very profitable.
