Always wondered what they were inspecting for and why? I'm beginning to believe they were really not inspection marks but a mark or code for Body-In-White and Paint for things that are not on a '69 Lynch Road fender tag such as an antenna hole for a radio or grille blackout on border line colors. My tag for my Y4 gold A12 RR has the "R" in the upper right of the tag and has a radio and rear deck speaker with a hole in the dash for the rear factory speaker fader. The stamps on the LR tags appear to have been made with a machine and not like the other assembly plants that look like they may have been done with some sort of hand stamp. I don't see how these "inspectors" could all be inspector "R" or inspector "X" on every shift. I'm thinking, in the Lynch Road assembly plant at least, they are for something in BIW or Paint to have that option on function performed there. If not then inspector "R" worked his/her butt off on three shifts every day of the week sometimes. What's extra stamps on your Lynch Road fender tag and anyone have a "R" without a radio or radio antenna hole?

Mike"R" wink

My Lynch Road tag does not have the R and the radio option was not chosen. Also, there were only two shifts at the assembly plants.
