I keep searching but coming up short, I remember years ago a post about converting over from the 1965 plymouth belvedere cable shifted steering column over to a 1966 column shift so you can use the standard linkage. Who was it that did this swap and what was involved? I remember that a 1966 column bolts in with little modification? Thanks!

I have seen this done on a car I sold several years ago.

You would need to have the 66 column and all of the linkage and cross bar from a 66 B Body complete to the transmission shift lever.

IIRC you retain the 65 column extra tin shield that covers the larger hole created by the cable design at the end of the 65 column.

Then just bolt the 66 column into that plate.

Locating the pivot point on the frame for crossbar would need to be pretty accurate as well but should be pretty easy to do.

I have not found any differences in the plug in connectors in the column so that should just be plug and play.

Be sure the column you select is correct for manual/power to match what you already have.

If it is not you can swap out the main shaft from your old column just remember these are not collapsible and are one piece shafts.

On a side note be sure to mark your column shaft and the connector at the bottom to make sure they go back together and are not 180 degrees out.

It won't hurt anything but the turn signal cancel feature doesn't work when the column shaft is in upside down. twocents
