i dropped the deep pan and valve body on my 727.
I must have put 10 quarts in it so far. Does that seem right? I can't get an exact dipstick reading becuase each time i pull it it whipes the fluid off against the tube. How much fluid does your 727 take when you service it?

Soooo many variables ..... size of the converter, depth of the pan, length and size of the cooler lines, type and size of the cooler itself.

Sometimes you just have to let it sit to allow the tube oil to drain down into the pan. Do remember you have to check this with engine running in neutral (not park). At 10 quarts you must be pretty close (for a big converter) if not over. Just keep wiping and checking. When you see a true line on at least one side of the stick a couple of times in a row you will know what your level is. Make sure you run it through all the gears too to fill up all the cavities and piston areas. It is best to have the wheels just up on stands so as not to put a load on the clutches when there isn't enough fluid in there when you start.

I have a 10 inch ati convertor. I was checking it in neutral while running. I will check it now since it has sat. I was getting a line on the one side of the stick but it didn't seem to move. Does removing the valve body allow more fluid to drain then just dropping the pan? After i serviced the trans last week i filled it with fluid and check the stick ti was good. start it a week later and the tranny was slipping like crazy! Was low on fluid!

Yes, usually the accumulator will drain as well. When ever I go through a tranny I will run it on stands and put it through all the gears with a little brake on. Then check it a couple of times running it through the gears every time. Then a short test drive and check again. Lots of times I will have to add every time.
