Do you know of any rectangular fuel gauges 12 volt, but does not require a circuit board? I found 65 Belvedere, but images shows circuit board. Any way I can use the 65 gauges and just eliminate the circuit board?

all mopar of that vintage would be 5 volt gauges.
you don't "need" the circuit board.
it is designed to allow 1 VR to supply power to all the gauges, and centralized point for the plug for lighting and gauges etc..

you could wire the gauge independently.
you would have to supply it with 5 volts however and be sure you isolate it from ground.

there is a solid state 5 volt VR design in the tech archives. you could build that and wire directly to the single gauge and make it work.

otherwise if you must have 12 volts you are better off buying an aftermarket gauge and changing the face plate.

Good info. I have tried SW aftermarket gauge (in fact I have 2, a 2" and a 21/16"), which is round. My gauges are rectangular, and the round "works" will not fit in my small rectangular slot (48 DeSoto cluster). Best of my knowledge, there are no aftermarket rectangular gauges?
When you say 5 volts? I do have a volt reducer (12 to 6) installed in my system for gauges and dash lights?

it will read a little high but it should be close enough to let you know when you are getting close to needing gas.
It might be a problem for the tolerance of the gauge. assuming a 12 volt system to 5 volts, 6 volt goes to 14.4 volts.
but real voltage would be 14.5 max takes it up to 17 volts. that might hurt the gauge.
honestly it is pretty cheap to get a 12 volt to 5 volt vr to wire in. I would do that as a separate line to protect the gauge.
or I suppose there might be a shop to rewire it to 6 volts or 12 volts.

I got a dash insert for my 51 Plymouth from these guys.

They don't show anything for a Desoto but you could maybe ask them about it.

Thanks Sniper. Although my DeSoto is a HotRod, I would like to keep the original cluster, and gauges.
