I have a 1978 dodge macho truck, that im painting right now,...my question is,..on the black paint on the lower body is the paint line in the middle of the body line or,.. below it or above it ???? i have seen org truck in the past but can't remember how it was from the factory ??? my truck is orange /black,....and would you paint the black a flat or a gloss on the clear,..???,.... i know that gloss would last longer and be breeze to take care of,...... driver/show truck,.....thanks

Do an online search for Dodge Macho and look at the pictures.

Try YouTube. You'll have to do freeze frame but it should give you what you need. I went to google for pics and found zip. I searched Macho Power Wagon on YouTube and got a bunch of hits (try different combinations as it depends on who uploaded it).

Hope this helps. beer

Oh, and here's the video I pulled the image from :1978 Dodge Macho Power Wagon

I want to say that the black is a matte semi gloss and the body line is the break. When looking at pics on line it might be easier to reference the distance between the stripe and the side marker light / tail light / grille.

Poked around http://www.machopowerwagon.com yet?

its satin black.....not quite hot rod black, but close....
semi gloss will be too glossy...
not bad to duplicate in single stage paint, but base clear will be a challenge...

WOW that photo is perfect !!....i see the body line,...and the paint line or strip line is way way north of the body line like 1/8 to a 1/4 on a inch ,...It looks to me that the factory put the strip's on then painted from the strips down ...thanks for the photo ...you the man !

i cant zoom in on it, but you really think the black went on after the stripes? Might be original stripes and black was resprayed later because of rock chips and went over bottom of stripes?

I'm no expert but from what I've seen come from the factory is they used the stripes to cover the mask line because it wasn't perfect or clean.

In my pic I think that the fender was replaced back in the day. Rest of the paint looked to be original. I think that they painted the black and then applied the strips. That is the way we did it.

Start at the center upper bolt in the front stone shield, come back the fender then stay about 3/4" above the body line around the rest of the truck. Did repaints on a couple of these back in the day, they were close to this, the stripe covers the paint line, only places that show is at the grill and if you get to high around tail lamp and gate areas.
