Digging for info on here with the search option, I found an old post where Brett chimed in and stated he was working on a pair of mw Victor's that would support 1000hp when done. He posted a couple pics as well, but that's all I found. Anyone here know if he ever finished them and the out come?

Not sure about that, but I know it can be done. We did a 540 a couple years ago that made a grand on the dyno. Broke everything in the car it went in but eventually ran the track numbers to back it up. I am sure Brett could get the same or better results.

Todd,
I think Brett's project was "small block" based. I could be way off but I think it was a Ritter block and was about 440 cubic inch and made high 900s in HP but had more left.

Both Brett and the engines owner are on here so hopefully they will be able to give facts rather than recollections.

No, Shiloh's is a early Ritter block with W8 heads

Yes, Brett took a crack at a BB MW Victor. As I recall, he did one port and decided it wasn't worth pursuing further. (EDIT: This is my a$$umption, but Brett could provide more details if he happens to see this thread). The numbers looked good, but weren't much different than what Chad Speier advertised for his CNC MW Victor program.

In general, the MW Victors CNC programs I've seen advertised (Speier, BES, Modern) all end up with big runner volumes for the sake of getting big flow #s at .700-.900" lift. Below that, I don't recall them being any better -- some not even as good -- as my PRH-ported standard Victors. IMO, those heads are ALL going to exhibit the same thing you're experiencing now with the Hughes heads, if you don't tailor the rest of the combination to work with them.

Somebody had an EMC (2017 or 2018?) entry with the BES heads that was IMO a big underperformer. When I read the details of the build and saw the heads that were used, it was a no-brainer to me why.

Dave - What happened to replicating what worked when YOUR heads ran 9s? You're getting so wrapped around the axle over this it's painful to read each new thread you start.

Apparently I don’t know the secret password for searching for any year Engine Masters final results/standings/order.

Got a link to the specifics on that Victor headed build?

Also, I may not be remembering it right, but....... I thought Brett started with a std port head....... and the port configuration he came up with was something that would have also required a heavily modified/custom intake manifold.
He did not end up with a traditional MW type of port opening.

BES numbers.......

Not that it really means anything, but the picture they show for this head, which looks like it’s right out of the Ede catalog, is of a std port 1st gen head.
At 335cc....... it would likely be a MW Head.

Maybe since I have never entered one of those engine competitions I should just keep my mouth shut... but IMO the two RB 452 collaborations that Dwayne and I have worked together on over the years have done better with less.

EDIT: As I mentioned below, I don't know how these scores are calculated; maybe my junk wouldn't place well in an event like this. But the HP & torque for the builds above still look like underachievers to me.

I see the one entry is listed as using a roller cam....... so it’s not flat tappet only.
Maybe a low-ish CR rule?

4150 carb only?

Small header collectors?

Low-ish operating range?

I don't remember what he started with, but the end result was, as you stated, not a "traditional MW type of port opening."
