I am looking for original pictures or documentation on the OE correct 1/4" return fuel hose clamps that are used on a 70 440 Challenger. Does the vapor separator end 1/4" hose use the red spring type clamp or the keystone type clamp. Does the other end that connects the rubber hose to the steel return line get the red spring type clamp or keystone type clamp.
I have see them both ways on restored cars.
Thanks Bob

Frank Badalson sells a kit with the correct hoses and clamps. They are Keystone clamps. I have confidence that Frank should know what is correct.

I talk with Frank, have not asked him about this yet. One of the engines he did had a red spring clamp on it. Why I ask first is I saw on Dave Walden's Challenger which had a Keystone.

Thanks, I have the correct clamps for all sizes, just trying to find out 100% on which one to use on 1/4" return hose.

#123 is the Oetiker brand part number. #505 must be another manufacturer.

Bob,
Im 99% sure even the return line takes the keystone clamps. Should be yellow zinc dichromate finish. Sorry ,,dont remember the number stamped on them
Clear zinc on the 5/16" and black zinc on the clamps for the 3/8" hose

Thanks Bob

Yes exactly what I am saying. There was an article in one of the major Mopar mags. with an interview including pictures. If may have also been in one of the Mr. Norms pamphlets that were around years back. So after seeing/reading Frank's direction I always followed it. Is it now considered just one of the ways it's done or a mistake????
Ron

OK cool so at least my memory is still intact. I always felt that Frank is one of the best people to take advise from over the years.

I apologize for straying a little off the subject here. But is there a better set of crimping pliers than what I have? And can anyone provide some tips on how to make a nice triangular shaped crimp like the factory (see image below of KV hose)? I am inconsistent on my crimping. Some come out triangular and some are shaped like tear drops. I have been using Oetiker branded clamps.

These work good on the keystone clamps. You can see the tool keep the tops flat.

While at it. Has anyone see this. Original keystone clamp from the factory. Look at the crimp. We are all trying to keep the top flat, and look what I found on my 70 Challenger

Thanks Bob. I bought this one off of Ebay. It looks like an older version of the Model 424
