I am installing a new cam in my Hemi that will work with
My Holley MPFI system...it currently has a Jesel Belt Drive System, so it will be easier.

I would like to pay someone Local here in Cincinnati that could help me
Degree the cam. It is a New Dwayne Porter cam that he told me to do it right😀😀😀

Would it be better in the long run if you spent the money on the tools to do the job and learned how to do it right yourself? Or am I misunderstanding the situation?

I need someone to educate me, but do it for me...buying tools just to buy tools if I don’t know what I am doing is not on my list.

I will pay for someone’s help to dial it in

A Jesel makes it easy. What I do with a Jesel is install the cam with the line at zero and then just check it. Most of the time it will be correct. If it isn't correct you just loosen up the upper pulley and move it the amount needed. Usually only takes a few minutes. You do need a degree wheel, a pointer and a dial indicator with stand. If you don't have any tools then you'll need to have a local car buddy swing by and help.

Mark I did my first one 40 years ago following a Direct Connection book. Now there are DVD’s showing you how and better pictures in books to help you. If you watch someone do it you will not learn a damn thing. Trust me you can do it and by doing it yourself next time will be a cake walk. PS I’ve had lots of luck advancing them 4 degrees

Thank you Andy and others, however I would like to make sure I am right on the mark...
I would just like some help, and I would just like someone local to help me.

I understand completely what Lock-Jaw is asking, I am sure he is smart enough and can afford the tools, but would like an experienced person to go through the steps and procedure to make sure it is right. There is alot of piece of mind doing it and seeing it done and understanding it.

Good luck I hope you find a really good guy to help you out.

You would need a piston stop ($10) & a degree wheel (fairly cheap) & a large one is better to work with but are $$$. there might be some utube vids on the procedure. #1 with the piston stop confirm the dampener slit is on TDC on the timing tab (or within 1 degree). EDIT you might search for someone local to come show you, it's a slighly twisted procedure (I had to read the procedure several times) but when you grasp it you'll have it & it is simple: How many degrees after TDC does the cam cyl #1 intake valve lobe reach max lift & I forgot you also need a dial indicator (clamp on or magnetic). MORE EDIT I just checked utube & there are some very good procedures on there

I have some things, but not the degree wheel...the engine is in the car.

What I need is an EXPERT that will help me do it correctly, and I expect to pay that person

If any of you guys are interested in learning how to degree cams in or already do so I highly recommend this tool. It slides into the lifter bore and with a dial indicator installed on it makes this job so more easier, more consistent, and quicker. Christmas is coming, put it on your wish list.

Mark Came over tonight to help me degree my New Dwayne Porter Camshaft, and the Jesel was 5 degrees (retarded) off from where the dot to dot is...The intake centerline was 115*. and that was 5 degrees off, then to add 2* advance, to bring it to 113* at Dwaynes spec. Not quite one tooth retarded, but almost. Boy, did I learn a lot from Mark.

He was a real life saver on this!

Thank you Mark!

Mark
