We were told it's similar to fertilizer.

Fires are a natural part of things. That's how old, dead growth and debris and underbrush is eliminated.

Problem is when you "fight" fires and keep them from happening for years and years, the old, dead growth and debris and underbrush build up, adding more and more fuel.

So when the inevitable fire does finally happen it is much worse and more intense.

Fires might be a natural part, but on Fire Garbage trucks dumping their burning loads alongside of the road near brush/grasslands is not.

Next year, no energized power lines and no garbage trucks, that ought to fix things. biggrin

And no more barbecuing. Hard to believe someone would dump hot ashes in their garbage.

WOW !!! . . . sounds like the lawyers sure do run that state - if the distribution system were properly maintained - think trees trimmed or removed along rights of way of powerlines, AND infrastructure (think old poles replaced, overcurrent protective devices - relays, circuit breakers, etc) were maintained to SHUT OFF possible short circuits . . . then power would be on and risk would be at total minimum . . . however, the media takes what they get told from utility and give that information to everyone - no power, to protect you ! . . . OOPS - sorry, one more thought . . . for those looking to plug in a portable generator and keep the fridge/freezer going, etc . . . . PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE - ENSURE YOU TURN YOUR MAIN BREAKER OFF !!!! . . . do not back feed into the grid !!!

Nobody here is buying PG&E's B.S. They are doing this to try and strong-arm the legislature into passing some liability-limits law for them. We should eminent domain that 'utility' and run it like Caltrans.

You mean that "Natural Selection" works better?
I agree. The same principle applies to the many, many inferior people that have been protected by silly warning labels and frivolous lawsuits! If they were weeded out by natural selection, the rest of society wouldn't have so many idiots to contend with. There would be less traffic, less crime and fewer diseases.
Lower taxes too, I'd hope.

I find it very easy to believe that somebody would do just that. People can be rock stupid at times...
