HI,
On KB190 piston web site description, it is writin that it won't fit 62cc magnum head, but will it fit in Eddy performer head(58cc).
Valve interference?
I have problem finding the answer.
The engine is Magnum 360. it will run on propane, so 12.5CR is acceptable.
thanks

All I can add is, with my 408 stroker my man had to machine some or all of the same .085" step dome on the KB's to get me to zero deck (closed chamber EQ mag heads). EDIT .040" cometics

I’ll have to check the exact part number on the KB pistons I put on my 5.9 and get back with you. Mine were 0.017” above deck but I went with RHS iron heads. It may be 🍎 and 🍊 but maybe something will help. I’ll try tomorrow to go back to my paperwork and check.

I looked at my receipts from nine years ago and apparently Hughes doesn’t use the same part numbers. Anyway I think your combination is going to be a lot different than mine. The KB quench dome pistons I bought were 0.017” above deck and were good for 9.25:1cr with a 62 cc head. The pistons you are looking are at 11.5:1 cr. I would think clearance would be a concern.

This can be solved by looking at pictures. The 190 has a dome that extends from the valves to the spark plug side of the piston. It's circular. The Magnum combustion chamber has a small squish pad between the plug and the outside of the cylinder. The KB190 dome is 0.080" above the upper edge of the piston. So, any chamber like the Mag head will have interference. It will not bolt together and run. The valve placement and angle are the same for the LA and Mag heads, or very very close. It's not the valves.

The KB190 appears to be made for an LA head. It is definitely made for an LA block, deck height 9.599". The Mag block is 9.577. The compression height of the 190 is 1.675". Add that to a 6.123" rod and 1.79" half of a stroke and see what you get. It'll stick out of a Mag block. But that can be taken care of by the head gasket. The Mag squish pad is the problem. The dome would have to be machined off in that area. See Jeg's picture of a typical Mag chamber: https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/514200/10002/-1
Now the KB190: https://uempistons.com/i-28053-1-set-kb190-std-1-set-4000am8-std.ht

Or, you could call Edelbrock and ask them!

Thanks for your answer, appreciate it.
You are right, will not go with KB190.
Instead, it will be 4inch stroke with flat top piston(diamond 5cc). 12.5cr will be easy to achive.
If piston protrude, I will compensate with thicker head gasket and target quench of .045 inch.
Thanks again

Is there any danger if piston protrude, how far out can it go without issue?
