I have USAA and they always go by the vin for what I insure them, for many years I had a converted Diesel to Gas pickup and could never convince them for the lower rate.

My old mopars have been effortless to insure for a fair value. Im honest with what they ask me and in over 30 years have never caused them a headache other them comp claims when I feel I couldnt absorb them.

My biggest liability is myself as some of my antics in the past would probably make them exempt from them if there was a problem. Render unto Caesar and all goes well.

I have a car that back in the second gas crisis, the owner during a restoration, pulled out the big block auto and installed the smallest small block with a 4 speed.

So I guess I would have to disclose the HP on my car was modified, and risk denial of coverage. work.

If modifications make a car no longer DOT legal (turn signals removed, no windshield wipers, safety glass removed, non-DOT tires) and that contributed to an accident/injury on a public roadway, then I would say they might have a legitimate issue with it.

But I have never experienced this personally nor heard of it actually happening.

As I posted in another thread. There was a case where a guy had a lift kit etc done and it was denied as he changed the truck from the factory. They were not informed and they denied a claim for both parties.
My Grundy Policy clearly states that you must list HP as well as changes.

Hagerty has my Cuda down as "modified" [and it adds a healthy amount to the premium].
