Has anyone come up with a solution to replace the volts reg at the rear of the 66/67 B Body instrument panel?

Ive just blown my second one due to a faulty engine bay reg which sent 18 volts to the panel....and of course it took out my fuel and temp gauges as well. rolleyes

67 RO23 clone with 6.1 SRT Hemi and dual quads. Soon to have Drag Pak induction and Throttle body.

I built this one
http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/elec/11.html

it works and isn't that expensive.

there is one made by a company for around 25 bucks.
I think this one cost me 4 bucks in parts.

I am not sure it would survive 18 volts either though.

also be sure the gauges are dead. tie 2 AA batteries together serially and apply them to the gauges.
if they move (and it takes a second before they move) they will only go to the middle and you will know they are ok.

Real Time Engineering has them. And theirs are designed that if they fail they fail open, so no voltage .
