Anyone catch this series on Netflix? Yes, another one of those documentary type shows on a resto shop. This one is based in BC Canada. The redeeming fact for this one is there are quite a few mopar to be seen. Always nice to see, no matter the quality of the show itself.

People are too critical of these car TV shows. Play nice, my man!

Decent show. At first it was easy for me to dismiss soley on some of the guys appearances. But I enjoy the show. Sam with Uncle Tonys Garage. Before I saw it was Tony Defeo I was gonna pass on his videos but I really like his common mans approach and stories. Really liked his video on modding the 5 liter Mustang in the late 1980s.

Keep old mopars alive.

It's the same guy that made the news a few years ago looking to sell his property and all the cars for something like 3.5 million. He has a lot of good stuff, but I heard that he doesn't like to part out his stuff. 'Oh, you want that steering wheel? Buy the whole car then'. I liked the show, but it quickly deteriorates to stupid antics and bs plots like so many of the automotive based shows today.

Watched it when it was on TV here.
The restorations are kinda sketchy and for the prices people pay for the cars I'd expect a rebuilt engine. As long as it runs they don't do anything more then put some rattle can paint on it.
He's also on highway thru hell.

Gave it a try because apparently was that bored. Yeah, some cool stuff in his yard but I don't think I'd let these guys wash my car never mind wrench on it. Only managed a couple episodes before getting annoyed with the formula - 40 minutes of "personality", 5 minutes of working on the project. Most of the episode, the project is in pieces scattered around the shop then bang, it's all together and done.

The deal breaker was the extended argument about the 41 Power Wagon. One guy cutting off rusted bolts that would only snap, strip or round off anyway and the other guy is yelling at him about how the owner wants to keep the thing as original as possible.

its local to me. its scripted tv. nothing is real, not many sales are real, cars are not built by mike and avery. some of the cars are not even the cars they start with. Like most tv shows, its fake. the producer is standing on the side telling the actors what to say. mike has lots of mopars and is buying up everything around here. the work is average at best
good for him. armchair idiots eat up the show and the only reason he got into it was to sell the cars. people are beating down his door to buy projects for WAY more than they are worth just because he is a tv "star"

i blasted one car for them last year. they dont do the full resto thing. just lipstick on pigs mostly.

I binged it last weekend in the garage while working on my Satellite. I enjoyed the scenery, it looks like a beautiful place to live. I don't take anything I see on TV too seriously. It's all just entertainment, even the news (no matter the network).

and Avery is a bigger lowlife douche in real life than he is on TV if you can believe that. he actually tones down his d-head attitude for tv.

You're not the first person I've heard any of this from. While I've never dealt with them personally, have had many friends who had and were not pleased with how they conduct "business". Even when they've had parts I desperately needed, I still looked for other sources.

Kind of a shame, really. That yard is full of goodies that could probably be saved.

Was Avery separated at birth from his twin brother porn star Ron Jeremy ?

Finished the rest of the series. Again nice to see some nice old Mopars, independent of what the opinions are of the show itself. Pretty area as well.
Wish the guy the best, seems like he's all over the place and not so business savvy.

I think that's where some of the sourness comes from. People go out there and expect parts-car prices, but then get told 8-10-12k for something that is an absolute mess when all they need is some trim off it. I'm sure there have been many of us - myself included - who buy whole cars to get a few trinkets but we pay actual parts-car prices. But, like I said, all I've got to go on is second-hand information and other peoples' experience. I don't know which one of those fellows my friends have dealt with.

Was cool to see Dan on the show. Hadn't seen him in ages and ages.

I was kinda thinking the other guy had more than a passing resemblance to Dee Snider.

While reading some comments from neighbors, had this musing: all these resto shows always show happy customers and successful projects and everything comes out all rosey and happy. Seems a bit less than reality based to me. What kinda ratings do ya think they'd get if they included the unhappy customers?

mike has a rock scaling business, it does extremely well with government contracts. (millions/year) he is very wealthy despite the drama that goes on with the show.

the show is a bit deceptive. lots of the inside shots are from multiple locations from other businesses. they portray it as a small area but they use footage from up to a couple hundred miles away. I blast next door for another shop and its amazing watching all the fans dropping in to see the location. I wish mike well, he is a genuine guy and pretty much what you see is what you get. at the end of the day its scripted tv.

they are filming now for a second season
