In this listing the seller has pictures of how he repaired the front frame rails. I was wondering if this is an accepted way of repairing the frame rails?

Yes using an insert like that is pretty typical.

Take care,

With the availability of full repro frame rails today, there's no reason to piece meal a repair like that, I wouldn't want that in my car or a customers car....

You wouldn't see penetration on the rear sides of that insert. It's like 3x the thickness of the rail metal. Doesn't mean that the rail metal isn't securely fused to the insert. Be the same if spot welded to that insert. BUT the location of that repair gives me concern. It's a "bending moment" area wrt loads: Compartment weight behind, engine weight in front. Unless you consider the inner panel as being a "structural" member to offset any bending moment there. Hey: at least they went thick insert.

I agree but how close to OEM do the new rails appear? Nobody seems to have that answer and I always wondered. There are definite differences in the new fenders vs OEM.
