That video show him running the trans with a cheap controller he made. Have no idea if it is true or not but seems real.
Fiat need to jump on this or even ZF out of Germany. They used this same trans ( Basic setup) with upgrades in the GT4 class at Neuenburg.
I believe they dropped the converter for a clutch. This trans is less than 200 lbs and can handle up to 750 ft lbs I think in the hp90 trim.
Googled 8 speed and got GM stuff engine and transmission controllers for swaps.
JESUS they R quick!!!!!

Less than 200 lbs? The A-8 ? Have you actually seen one of these? They are huge. Is that with the converter and fluid?
How could they be around the same weight as a 727 ??

Less converter. Nor sure about fluids. Better design I guess.
If you can control it with an aftermarket controller or manually like the guy did in the video, then you have one heck of a trans for a swap.

I keep posting in these TF-8 posts - the trans is 9" tall at the rear mount. It's a very different size and shape from a 727. FYI for all who've never seen one, it will take a lot of tunnel surgery. Not that it isn't a great trans, but it's going to be a lot more work than making a 518 fit.

Has anyone heard about this company?

HTG Tuning?
Apparently they have a ZF standalone controller.

Here are some size pics I have collected. The first is comparing the Nag1 (center) to a 727 and 545. The second and third are the Nag1 vs. the 8 speed. I've heard of the Nag1 fitting in an ebody with just a little "persuasion" to the tunnel with a hammer. I don't know if the 8 speed will fit with that same "persuasion".

These transmissions work so well in the modern cars because of how integrated the controls are into the whole car. We have an 18 Durango R/T and I really like the how the 8 speed works but I think it would be really hard to do from the aftermarket.

Its just a tune you put into them. Not sure if the 8-speeds are ZF tuned or FCA tuned, I know FCA has had troubles with their own tune in the ZF9 (FWD) used in the jeep cherokee with harsh shifts etc. Word is they called up ZF to help and now its fixed. Either or, it may work with a base tune from 6.4 car or the aftermarket can tweak it from there. I don't think it'll be too difficult.

I just got one of these transmissions. My friend and I are both going to put in an ebody. I won't be ready for body mods until probably next year but we are working on getting it all hooked up properly behind our small blocks.

Yeap used HTG to swap a 8sp out of a 2015 Ram 4x4 in to a 77 Ramcharger, took awhile to get it from over the pond to here in Eastern PA.

Irony when you think about it, for a while there swapping the 4l80e was the hot ticket for Mopar guys now swapping the ZF trans is the hot ticket for GM guys....Ohhhh the Horror or it all
