A little off topic, but I like what that tucked back bumper and partially blacked out front bumper do to the look of that Volare.

Are you whining or complaining? Bragging??? What???

Most put themselves in a position to be able to do it...not just stand at the end of the porch and bark...

I part them out on a car trailer...Not a thing anyone can say about it...neighbors...county...whoever...

Either walk the walk or talk the talk...Maybe just stick with the latter...

At least your honest...your a schmuck...

Back to the relative topic...at some point once they get so bad they become parts donors...dragging it out and looking over the frame rails and unibody will be the deciding factor...

I commend anyone who wants to save a basket case Mopar, but the OP asked what it was worth, and like it or not, we told him. I suppose that if I had no other Mopar project cars, then I may consider grabbing something like this and building it. I bought this Challenger 340 4 speed shell this year for $500, so I have taken that leap before. I got twenty projects, so I really don't need anymore, but for the money I paid, I couldn't let it go. It has good bones, and I have a lot of Challenger parts.

I have 12 out behind my garage just like that for nuts and bolts.
If you are restoring more than one car you will spend well over $500 on just nuts, bolts and clips.
I purchase any "non-restoreable" mopar for $500.
That's typically my limit unless it has a part that I know it worth a little extra, IE good axle combo ect..
Throw your time of picking it up and digging it free out the window.

For a couple real life comps... these were just bought last month.
They were $500 each except the 4 door I gave a $1000 because it has some good parts on it.
One is a 69 GTX resto gone bad.
69 Runner 4 speed
and obviously a 70 satellite 4 door.

Really not a bad car Barry.

And yes I just noticed a couple posts above. The right spot and neighborhood is needed for this kind of yard art...

Well, if we're posting how we get 'em, and happily so, I'll add a few. This '68 had no front end, no engine, trans or floors of any kind. All said and done about $600 into it. Made me happy!

The Fury is not on it's way out, this is how it came IN. Well, most of it. The K frame, engine and trans were on the rollback. Again, about $600. It had a hemi 4spd in it.

My oldest found the RR while hunting. I found the owner, and she said she was offered $200 by a scrap guy, IF she could get the farm next door to drag it out of the woods. I offered $400 if I could part it there. We were both happy with that!

Alot of outstanding points on why to get whats left of even some of the most crusty cars. Very glad to see the ones who can do it as well enjoy doing it and id bet in the end it helps many. I dont have the good health or patience to do it, however ive never been able to adjust to the gap of $2-300 cars that were complete, running and derivable to say a $600 pile ya wench on and hope all goes well.

It's ok to say don't worry about the money, when it's not your money, but more than a few times,i have seen people invest too much money in the wrong car,and seen them get beaten to death on the resale end. so unless you plan on spending life with your new project,it does matter, until death do you and your project part. it's easy to say when it's not your money!

Fixed,

Like said, ,,,,its far to easy to say jump in its fine,,,when its not your money.
Im in the market to buy a car ,,,a DONE car I might add. And even though this will be my last car. There is no way I will / or can overpay for one. What ever that price point is .
If anyone here can buy with ZERO regards to the money invested. Then more power to you.

Who can tell how rusty it is with those tiny pictures? It could be a total turd or somewhat restorable.
Have any of you complainers every seen Chris Birdsong's YouTube channel "Junkerup" ? He has a habit of buying and saving 1968-70 Chargers that you complainers would laugh at.
Have you forgotten what it is like? Have you lost the passion to do work yourself?

I have not yet seen the car in person, but if the right circumstances present themselves I will save this car, If i had the "its worthless" attitude that some have my Volare would never had been saved, It had what others would deem irreparable, I put money into it and considerable labor, I know that when it sells i wont make back my time but I am sure i will make back the money invested. The time spent working on it is for me, as this is what i enjoy doing, it is my escape, my way of expression into something tangible and of value. Not ever did I start working on my cars to proifit but I do like when I can make some money back.

I will start a build thread if I end up with it. stay tuned.

More often than not most that end up upside down do so by paying others to do any and sometimes everything...

My 70 Satellite was bought with a 68 Coronet 440 H/T as a package deal on both cars for $2,000 in 2007.

Sold the Coronet for $2,000 and kept the Satellite.

Sold the extra parts that came with it for another 800.00 and I had a car and 800.00 cash to start building it...

Roughly $16,000 and 3 years later I had a running driving car that has had over 20,000 miles put on it and supplied 10 summers of fun...

Most of the initial 16K came from buying and stripping about 12 cars and selling those parts...

The Dart was nearly the same as 2 cars were bought...one fixed and 1 parted out...

Another parts car supplied the V8 K frame and disc brakes while also donating the dash pad and a ton of bolt on parts...

I already had a lot of the parts needed for it and the total cost after the paintwork was less than 15K...

There has been 4 summers of fun thus far with it along with a couple trips to the track...

I'm not upside down on either one if they were to be sold tomorrow...

Before and afters of each sitting in front of my "Junk Yard"...

Before 1.JPG1005141102.jpg1738.jpg0825181558.jpg

Loving all the tears... bawling

Sorry Doc...

We'll try again in 2 years...up

Edited...Looks like it will be 6 years...biggrin
