I don't have any of the late 70's part books as I pretty sure that it is from that era.
Part No. 4057396

Can't find that number but it's a neutral-balanced low-stall 10 3/4" (11") for a '77-later 727.

Do you think it's a lock up converter?

Shine a flashlight down the bore and count the splines.

My reference docs only go to -386.

The -386 is a Reman 10-3/4” HP low stall,

Look inside the impeller hub while holding the converter on its ring gear. Look inside and if you see a seal it is lockup. If no seal it’s non-lockup.

Flag on the play I may be incorrect so below may be inaccurate.

Manual references your number in one section but in another references another.

Below subject to review

Appears that torque converter replaced 2843586 which may have been used in 69-71 440HP applications?

If it's non-lockup, this converter will work with any neutral-balanced 727 (or some 518"s) installation from '67 until the end of production. The difference is this one has no drain plug so it's intended for '77-later.
