Id like to find out was the dipstick and tube installed on the line before or after the engine was painted Blue , also was the distributor hold down clamp and bolt installed before or after engine was painted ?. Thanks for any input.

I believe that the tube is blue and the dipstick handle is black. The dist. hold down has a copper finish. I can’t recall when it’s painted.

You can hear crickets chirping if you ask a question about anything newer than 71...

Here's a couple pictures of a 73 340 when it was new and it has a black dipstick handle. Not sure about the distributor clamp. My 318 clamp is copper coated and I left it bare. I do have a few other clamps that still have original blue paint on them but I don't think they are copper. They factory started painting them at some point but that might have been later in the 70's. Note the insulation on the heater hose that runs close to the upper rad hose.

Lol that s funny you are right not many comments on 72s. Ive seen both painted and non painted dip stick handles but the tube seems to always be painted Blue on the original cars ive seen. Thanks.

Totally Agree!! I understand advertising income but it’s getting to be such a distraction it’s not worth going on here. What I feel is that probably one of if not the best overall mopar site is headed downhill.

There is a lot less foot traffic here than in the past, just look at the long gaps in time between postings in some of the forums. I see a lot of screen handles over at other sites.

If anyone has original pictures of engine details from the later years, please share them. Some of us are still interested in those cars.

with all of the legit advertisers i don't see why you need infolinks. it is very obnoxious. get an ad blocker and be done with it.
