Maybe greyhound if the receiver is willing to go to a bus terminal to pick it up. watch UPS - they might add a surcharge for an unboxed item, i don't think FedEx ground does

Check with Fastenal for a shipping rate, but it'll be store to store customer drop off/pick up

I am pretty sure they have to be strapped to a pallet as well.

I ordered a set of 175/50R13 Yokohama A539s for my '72 Austin Mini, and they came IN A BOX! All 4 in one box. Size matters...

I shipped two tires by USPS, in a box. They were 560x15's, and I bought the box right there at the post office. 20x20x20 or 24x24x24, one or the other. Cut the box in half and smushed one half over the other.

Few years back sent 2 tires via Fedex. Each wrapped in shrink wrap w/label attached. Counter person was pleased because didn't have to handle dirty tires. But today? No sure.

This is the best thing you can do...package it in a box with newspaper to take up space. FedEx and UPS charge more for tires because they're referred to as "incompatibles" meaning they can't use the buildings conveyor system to route it. They have to manually move it via carts or trains, which costs more. If it's in a box, it won't be an IC.

just bought a single tire for my sister to replace her doughnut spare.
it came from amazon, and just had an address label and invoice pouch taped to the tire with a couple of strips of clear packing tape.

Tire Rack and Discount Tire Direct ship tires every day and they all just have an address label and invoice pouch taped to the tire with a couple of strips of clear packing tape. They consistently use either UPS or Fed Ex. No boxes, no skids, no drama.

I generally purchase my tires thru Summit or Tire Rack, and they are shipped with no boxes, just a shipping sticker/invoice stuck on the tire(s) via UPS
