Guys. Ran across a 68 Coronet 318 auto hardtop. Rusty but not falling apart, about 70% complete.

Couldn't evaluate frame rails but front floors are bad, some of trunk floor and extensions are poor.

Whats it worth and would you make a back half/ race car or fix it like a clone?

Over 80 views and no one has a thought on how much they would be willing to pay had they found it.

I only got a smart ass remark, this site was once helpful. Little suspect lately.

My first view and yes the site has diminished, my thought was why waste your time hauling it home. I MIGHT give scrap weight in hopes that there is something useful left on it and put it out back with several others of the same condition, but more complete parts cars. Not a smart remark serious and the reason I say might is it will take time, equipment and trouble to drag it home. This car has nothing going for it and it appears to be missing a lot. Hope that helps.

Careful, your character's showing!

I see a couple hundred bucks worth of common parts there tops. I think you would be doing the current owner a favor removing it from the property for them. I'm thinking free is the right price for that one.

I think that if someone values their time, they'd be upside-down in that thing simply by expending the time and effort required to get it out of there.

Regardless of what the rest think if that was local to me I would have already grabbed it up and started parting it out...

Not a lot of pics and not sure how many of the smaller parts would be able to be salvaged to sell...

Rear...K frame and trany mount alone would make for a decent profit once you scrap the carcass depending on the buy-in and distance to pick it up...

Headliner bows...interior trim...stainless trim...There's a lot there if the condition is usable...

Most of the schmucks left here wouldn't know how to do it let alone go through the work it would take...

In today's market most of these guys need to be able to buy something finish painted or polished and ready to bolt on...

I quit selling anything right now...I save everything that is usable...clean select parts up and put them away to sell later...

It's only going to get worse...

Loving all the tears... bawling

Sorry Doc...

We'll try again in 2 years...up

Edited...Looks like it will be 6 years...biggrin

Who cares about being "Upside down" in a project? Too many piss poor responses with negative thoughts. Take money out of the equation and have some fun. THese are great cars...The OP isn't asking about a 4 door slant six Savoy, this is a 68-70 B body. If someone wanted a drag car or something to KEEP with no immediate plans to fix and sell, this is a great way to buy into the game. Q U I T looking at these cars as a way to make money and you might actually have some fun with them.
I know that with age, many people become more intolerant and grumpy.... and it appears that nobody under 50 with any desire for adventure or pleasure dwells here .
This shouldn't be about the money, it should be about the fun.

^^^ well put.

A guy I know could probably use a bunch of the small parts off that Coronet. He bought a '68 Road Runner coupe, unfinished project, 440 swap 4-speed, to build for his family to enjoy.
His Dad had one when he was a kid, and his Dad is pretty stoked about the project.
It's missing a lot of stuff, and he knows he'll have more in it than its economic value, but he wants to tie 3 generations together.
I tried to steer him into a more-done or more-complete car, but he wants the build experience.
He's 44, I'm 67, and it's been a bit of fun for me helping with info, vendors, stuff from my stash...

And in my own case, for the 1st time in 40 years I'm into a car that I'll be upside-down on when I'm done, and I find I'm not too concerned with that.

Thanks fellas for all the responses. it gives me an idea of the thoughts out there.

It is not my find but a co-workers and he knows i am familiar with mopar i told him it should be worth about $500 with the title or at least knowing the family, the title will be clean.

If he can get it for the effort to remove it, i suggested clean it up, make it presentable and list it locally for 800-1000 and see what happens, If the owner wants some cash, I may put up the $$$ buy it ( depending on amount) and give a bit to my coworker as a finders fee.

So now lets play.... What it can be worth, IF i did to it what i did to my Volare. I have no issue rebuilding it into a really nice driver or better. so if it looked like this what would it sell for. Big block 4spd maybe orange in color with stripe.

I think a clone big block B body hot rod type car that is good enough to take to a local show similar to your Volare would be worth around $20-$25K- a very generic number that makes a lot of assumptions. Only you can answer how much it would cost to get this particular car to that level and whether you would enjoy that journey.

If that decklid is usable or savealble it is worth grabbing for sure. Hard to find item. I agree, lots of little parts, stainless, etc that others can use or restore.

IMO, the notion of cleaning it up and offering it for that price range makes more sense.
And that factors in whether there's still good parts left or someone wants the remains.
Restoring it as other than a bare-bones drag car, not so much, if there's any concern at all about the financial wisdom of doing so.
If you've watched enough auctions, you've seen that cars "restored" to a specific taste tend to sell for much less than their build cost.
The more personalized a car is, the narrower its market.
The exception currently is the pro-touring or resto-mod stuff, which takes deep pockets and can still be a gamble.
If it was an E-body or 68-70 Charger, your odds of escaping financial ruin would improve, but with a Coronet, it's unfortunately almost guaranteed.

A lot of us "schmucks" that know how to do this don't live in an area that allows us to turn our property into a junkyard and fill it full of trash.

Its funny to me when someone makes a post and then does not like the reply and then gets snarky.

Wow, sounds like some are having a bad day.

As to its worth, hard to say. But If I lived next door and you gave it to me I would not spend the time / energy / money its going to cost to pull it out of there.
I would go in take off whats MAYBE usable / sell able . Then either let the carcass rot where it is or have a scraper come get it for the weight.
What little I can see its probably gonna break in 2 once a wrecker hooks to it and tries to extract it.
