I replaced most of the wiring harnesses in my car as they were spliced five ways to Sunday; Rear light harness, under dash, and forward light harness
After buttoning everything back up, I have no power to the gauges, lights etc.

This is the current state of the car: Neg cable: one end grounded to the rad support (connection cleaned) and the other end of the cable to the passenger side cylinder head (connection cleaned) Positive connected to the starter. Forward light harness is also grounded to the rad support.

The standard dash is bolted to the metal frame for ground, the light bar is plugged in but not installed.
The bulk head on the engine side, all connections appear to be snug?

Its not the battery as I took the battery out of my 4Runner and still nothing.
I will say I took a screwdriver and touched the started relay and it cranked?

It's probably something simple, but what can I be missing here?

Lights? Is that both front & rear?

The dash frame relies upon a good ground via the 2 larger bolts down by kick panels.

What is still working? Horn, Dome, etc. Knowing what is /isn't will enable to isolate circuits involved.

First question, are the harnesses new or used? and regardless of condition did you go thru the entire harnesses and check for continuity on each circuit BEFORE installation?

I'm just assuming this is an E body? If so, there is ONE screw on the switch panel that grounds all of the switches to the dash frame. If you leave it out, or it doesn't make a good connection, it will cause all kinds of headaches. I have learned also, that when painting/restoring a dash frame, to leave the above mentioned kick panel mounting points devoid of new paint on both the dash frame and door jamb. I clean that area well, right before installation, and apply electrical grease. I HATE wiring problems, so good luck.

I hope that's not all it's hooked to. See drawing, you should also have a feed from the battery positive to the starter relay B stud, wire labeled in the drawing as A1A-10R, a red 10 ga wire.

Also attached to the B stud on the starter relays are two fusible links that go to the bulkhead connector into the passenger compartment to feed power to everything not the starter.

Harnesses are new from Year One and Mega Parts (M&H)

I did not check for continuity prior, but after I am getting continuity.

Yes, the positive is connected to the relay ( brand new relay as well)

SO you're saying I should install ALL the screws on the E body switch panel along with the gauges?

The dash frame itself was never out of the car, so I don't think that would an issue?, but I'll check as the kick panels are out right now as well.

Solved the issue - my dumb a$$ had the middle bulkhead connector inverted (upside down) Once I flipped it around, got my power and lights back. Man I feel silly.

Interesting, thought the connectors were keyed so they couldn't be connected incorrectly?

Glad you got it
