Was there anything different about the automatic transmission shift lever
on a truck that had a factory tuff wheel installed vs a truck without a factory
Tuff wheel installed from the factory ???
This question was asked of me by a friend ..

The steering wheel will hit the shift lever IF you don't use the factory adapter. If you try to bolt the Tuff Wheel directly to the column, it will hit. Sounds like that's his problem if he's asking about the shift lever.

He is using a factory adapter , I think the issue is , he thinks the lever should be at a different angle and length
to look and work correctly with the factory tuff wheel.

depending on the year, yes..
like a 77 truck had large wheel--vs.--tuff wheel....hence different length shift lever

The factory auto shift lever for a tuff wheel was shorter that a truck with a standard wheel. Regular shifter is 9 3/4" from roll pin to tip of the shifter handle. Tuff wheel shifter is 8 3/8". My understanding of Tuff wheel on a truck was first year available as a factory option was 78. Based on this fact I probably own the first factory equiped truck with a tuff wheel. My 78 Adventurer SE step side 440 truck is a super early78. It is vin# 21.

My 60k mike 77 Warlock had a factory tuff wheel.

I may have shots of the equipment decal.

for a stand alone option standpoint, the tuff wheel was available by itself starting in 78, but was apart of the Warlock Option Package on 2wd Warlocks.
