I have an 07 5.9 that’s pushing 300k. The truck has been flawless. Only issues are the wear items, brakes, suspension, interior, etc. Here recently I’ve seen some discussion on the fuel pumps on the later truck. My concern is having it go out on me while I’m pulling a load. I’m looking at a trip to Washington in October. My question is are there any warning signs that the pump is failing such as dead peddle
?
I have a BD fuel pressure warning light which is set for 5 psi. I ran the same set up on my 01 CTD prevent me from burning up the pump.

You won’t “burn up the pump” on that fuel system with lift pump loss. Lack of fuel volume will lead to lack of fuel psi and the injectors will stop. Get the lift pump issue resolved, start it up and go. That kind of miles I’m really surprised they are stock injectors... replaced a lot of sets in the 180k-220k range. That age and miles if you see a “low rail psi” code you can either replace the in tank fuel pump, or on a couple occasions I’ve removed the pump and cleaned the inlet screen on the module. It will have junk in it, nature of the beast.

My 06 went 385,000 km's on the original injectors. Its at 516,000 km's now still on the original pump. I treat it to fuel treatment every 5th tank or so.
