I've been working on a set of mounts for a Type II PS box to a big block. I think I finally have it figured out. This setup is fairly simple and is very rigid. I'm using 0.188 thick steel and then laser cutting and bending it. Parts are raw right now but I should have finished powder coated parts on hand in a few weeks. I'm also using a low mount 90 amp alternator in this picture. This is the new front accessory setup on the 426W block going into my '65 Coronet.

Looks nice.
Does that alternator position conflict with using a mechanical fuel pump?

My stuff is EFI so I don't have a mechanical fuel pump.

Can't make it out, is there a square 1/2" breaker bar tensioning hole in the front plate?

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

Yeah, okay. I thought you were posting to show something that you might decide to produce for sale. EFI builds are getting popular but are still in the minority...Of course you already know that.

There is a breaker bar hole in the front plate but it is 3/8 not 1/2.

I do sell a low mount 60 amp kit. A lot of cars are electric pump these days. Even if people still have a carb one of the new EFI tanks with a high pressure regulator is a better system than a mechanical pump. http://arengineering.com/products/low-mount-60a-kit-bb/

Looks good, I have a TypeII box on my Hemi, it's working out pretty decently.

we use the type box on all of our serpentine kits. been using them for years. these are also known as the zf box and you can get them in a ton of different configurations and reservoir options including remote mount reservoirs. no problems running the mopar gear boxes and they are small and light weight.

Not intending to take away from the OP... but what advantages are there to this "Type II" ps pump?

How does it compare to a desired Saginaw pump that has proper response to quick demand L/R/L/R/ hi-rpm power assist (whereby the Federal ps pump does not)?

Is there a Type II ps pump available for SB engines?

Check out a couple of these websites and you'll see that the aftermarket has moved on from the older pumps.

These are the pump the late model circle track cars use.

Some stock setups have aluminum pumps cases boogie

And aftermarket offers many in aluminum cases with variations in pump psi and flow. And IIRC there are kits to change psi and/or flow.

Look at the KRC line.

Also, you can run remote reservoirs. And mount them low.

But bummer, I don’t know of a Small Block Mopar bracket setup for a LA small block.

I'm sure something could be fabricated for a SB Mopar. I ended up building my own brackets for the BB engine. I started off buying the bracket kit from Unisteer but after I bolted it on I decided it was too crappy of a design to use on my car. The type II pump is very bracket friendly. It has bolt holes that go thru the pump and the mounting surfaces are flat so it is very easy to fabricate mounting plates.

I have a small, oval track style pump similar to the KRC unit linked above. I was able to utilize some stock SB brackets by modifying the bends slightly and adding a spacer behind the backing bracket. I have a divorced reservoir sitting on the inner fender. I've contemplated adding a cooler to it as well as all I need is the cooler and more hose and ends.

I don't think it would be a big stretch to figure out what else needed to be added to set a type 2 pump above the pump. In fact, I'd bet if you mock it up using some scrap steel welded together, you could take the completed unit to a local oval track fab shop with punch/laser/brake capability and have them make a fancy looking, single piece copy of your mock up. you could get it powdercoated or chromed, or if made from aluminum, anodized. Viola, fancy bracket. you might even be able to sell 3, or 4 to offset some of the cost.

Nice, I'll be looking for one of the ps brackets when I have some play money.

Nice work as always Andy. If you ever make one for a smallblock, I'll buy it. Same for those trick billet timing covers you once offered, too bad they were not a big seller. I should have bought one when they were available. perhaps, if that program is available for purchase? Maybe I could send that to a CNC guy to have one made...

Not much information on that KRC bracket! That has to be one of the most ineffective ads for a part that I've seen. Basically zero info.

They work. EMax runs that setup. I don't have any pictures, but you can see it with a quick internet search. 9 years and going strong.

Andy I just started a thread in the Q&A section about power steering and a member directed me to this thread.
Looks interesting. Will this setup work with a motor plate?

Would I just have to run one hose from the Type II pump to the power steering rack, or is it 2 hoses?
I was looking at the Saginaw pump and brackets on Mancini's website but I have no knowledge or experience with power steering.
