Wendy, I'm home.
an eighth of a turn, just be careful to seat the screw fully but not overtight before backing it out.

I would suggest between 1/2 and 3/4 turn out.

It depends on your altitude, gasoline used and the camshaft shruggy
I would start with between 1/3 to 1/2 turn out from gently bottomed out, set the center carb idle mixture screws 1 1/2 turns out from gently bottom in all the way wrench
The end carb closet to the fire wall is the worst one to set properly, take your time and reset the center carb up last after your happy with idle speed and mixture adjustments with the other two scope

Its a 70 340 with a 509 cam. I let it sit for a couple years and they got plugged up.
Took them apart and carb cleaned everything . Now it acts like it got a vacuum leak or one of the secondaries
is open.

Of all the carbs I have restored,I have found that the amount of turns differs depending on application. If the plugs are still intact I know they haven't been messed with.I usually always seat them counting the turns.I have found anywhere from 1/8 to 3/4 on small block and as much as 2 on a big block especially on A12 cars, however none are consistent by application.
