Is this the car that was a 74 cuda 360-4speed? I would not worry about the hood it can be changed out easy enough 90% of PPl that look at it would not know it was not factory on that car. And a large # would look at it and say look at that old car and not even know what kind it even is

Did it leave the factory with a shaker too?
Yea, I think the Shaker would be a mistake on that car, but that's just anal old me.
Looks like it's time for Scottie to get a new subtitle...

Yep, it's a factory N96 shaker hood car. The original broadcast sheet and fender tag are missing, but one of the previous owners swears it was on there when new...so it MUST be truely a one of one. Oh it's also an original V code 440+6 car as well...

I'd leave the vinyl top off otherwise sounds great! Keep the pic's coming.
If it were me, I'd leave the vinyl top off as well, especially after seeing firsthand the horrendous amount of rust that will form eventually, due to trapped moisture under the vinyl. But, build it however you want!
If you don't like vinyl tops, then by all means leave them off, but saying it's gonna rust is a bit of a red herring IMO.
If you're going to rotiserie restore a car, prime the roof, throw a vinyl top on and park it outside for 40 years, then yeah it's going to rust!
I doubt very much that rust will ever be a problem with this car's top again. My car had zero rust under the vinyl when I took it off and the factory had very poor paint coverage. Full paint coverage plus the fact that we take care of our collector cars, store them inside etc. and I seriously doubt the top will ever rust again. Mine certainly won't.

I know this is gonna sound bad but thats a LOT of $ to put in a 72-4.
Why does everyone bring that up? Not everyone is in it for a profit.
My dad's 73 isn't worth restoring if you are looking at what it will be worth when it's done compared to what it will take to get it done. Is it worth it to me....you bet.
That 74 is looking great. It looks like you sprayed undercoating in the wheelwells. Did you do that after the lines were installed?

5 Hours!
I worked on mine all weekend and didn't get anywhere near that much done!
Next time (if there IS a next time), I'm shipping the whole shebang to your house and I'll pick it up when it's done! I mean it!!

Amen, brother... My 73 Challenger, which I bought in Dec. 73, is just as sentimental to me as your Dad's 73 is.
I spent way more on the restoration than the car is worth. Do I regret it?...NO! Would I do it all over again?...YES.
Fortunately, I was able to get agreed value collector insurance for what I have in it. But I sure can't sell it right now for that amount. But, I DON'T CARE.
I will have the Challenger until I die. Having no kids, my only dilemma is which nephew to leave it to....

Because sadly to many people in the hobby have their heads inserted too far up their ... wallets ...
