I am wanting to re locate my transmission vent on my 904. The recommended locations I have seen would interfere with the CSR transmission shield that I run. I don't want to modify the shield at all in fear that it might not get re certified that way Is there any issue with locating the vent in the tail housing?

That is good to hear. However since this is street driven I wouldn't mind the vent being back farther from the hottest part of the exhaust. I had an overfill or over overheat situation last year where it barfed fluid it out of the vent and it caught fire on the headers on the side of the highway. Luckily there was zero damage and after it did that it never did it again.

You could put the vent in the tail housing but keep it away from the parking gear. It could throw oil out the vent. I put in a short barbed fitting and ran a hose to a vented catch can.

I run my CSR shield with the case vent..... I’ll see if I can conjure up a pict. I use a quick connect air hose fitting and run the line to a catch can

That would be great Jay, thanks!

I do like the idea of a catch can. If my car ever 100% didn't leak trans fluid I would worry about it. My 727 leaked just enough I topped it off before drag week each year lol.

Well the floor is in the car and I’m currently running my old blanket since slow bracket Betty is between the fenderwells. But here’s a pict of the trans and the location of the vent. The plastic breather is gone and a 90 degree airline quick connect is in its place.

All my 727 builds have the vent like J-Body shows.

The cast dividers in different cases can vary. So look if a little grinding is needed on yours to ensure any liquid drains down.

Thank you for the replies and the pictures. I could swear my shield covers the case 100% with no room for a vent but I will check it out again before I do something.
