We have to modify a 71 RR tunnel to put a 727 behind a 622 HP 505.
Removing the hump is easy, but are there other considerations?

A new driveshaft and Dana are in the future too, so those are figured in already.

Thanks, Joe

Yes, always ran autos, so my sons and I think it will make it easier on the driveline and our learning curve.

Just a little strip time planned to sort out a few things, so mostly meets and Sunday drives.
Many things to do yet, as the car is just a painted shell sitting on sub-frame dollies.

Beefed up the K-frame , adding sub-frame connectors, torque boxes and lower control arm stiffeners
so we don't twist the paint off....LOL
Gears will be 3.54

Thanks, Joe

More Mopars BB cars of all years and body styles where made with 727 than any other type of trans, it is a direct bolt in wrench scope

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

So I just remove the "hump" and weld a patch to match the curve?

Thanks, Joe

I don't see why the hump couldn't stay.

Good idea, put a plate over the opening and order a 4 speed carpet.

Can't see anything that might affect??

Thanks, Joe

Oh yeah, I'll need a trans support too

Kickdown linkage unless you have a manual valvebody that doesn't require it.

I had a 67 Valiant that I put a 4 speed hump in. I made brackets to mount a Hurst Quarter Stick pistol grip shifter inside the hole and used a 4 speed boot over it. In my opinion looked way better than the cheap plastic or aluminum covers they sell.

You can even use a 4speed console over it.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

I wouldn't remove it tsk Make a screw in panel to cover the stock shifter hole and run it up
The 727 in a 4 speed car floor will give you more room to work on the tranny in the car to hook up the shift linkage and so on work up

A friend did that exact same thing. Just cover the hole, he also just put the clutch pedal under the carpet.

I went auto 20 years ago.The clutch pedal just stayed on the floor untill recently I went on the Lee La Lane diet and changed to an auto pedal set up for the weight savings. As Lee says,,,,,,,,light is might and I took out 200 lbs. Every once counts!!
