A little bit of common sense goes a long way. Don't inhale the mist from a sprayer and don't get it on your skin, and you'll be fine. If you do get it on your skin, wash it off as soon as possible.

I use water conditioner salt.
40 pound bag for 7 dollars goes a long way.
I have killed bamboo with it.
Just don't expect any thing to grow where you salt the earth.

Old motor oil thinned with diesel keeps anything from growing and also got rid of the dust and erosion problem, and after a few years my driveway is now like asphalt.

I remember the county used to do the same until about 1980.

I've work for a Chemical company for 30 years. Round Up lost there patent and now there are lots of copies of glyphosate‎ under all kinds of names. Most of the stuff you buy at HD is not the concentration of the commercial grade. Now if you want to kill it all like the rail road use for the tracks then this is the product that we make. Its called Ground Zero, and that is what you will have when used. It will kill large oak trees if sprayed on the soil around it. See attachment for a brochure of it.

Maybe the new stuff is already weaker. shruggy

We still have a few gallons in the shed that are at least 5yrs old. I have a section out back that I started to clear for a new garage 4yrs ago right before I got sick. Well it got all overgrown the last 3yrs... so this spring I was finally able to hit the area with a gallon of the old Roundup. It's Aug 1st now... And with the exception of a few small ferns popping up in one small area(must have missed them) it's still all brown & dead .

When they finally take it off the market I'll switch back to gas... that always killed nearly everything it touched.
Or vinegar, salt & dawn... that works too, but not nearly as long as Roundup

Apparently so will the Roundup I have... frown
I didn't think of it until I just read your post... But one of my oak trees just died this summer. I couldn't figure out why, as it's one of the younger oaks on the property (but still 25yrs+). But I only noticed about 2 weeks ago that all the leaves are brown... and it's right on the edge of the area I hit with roundup in the spring... right before we had like 2 weeks straight of rain. I never even considered that the round up could kill a tree that big... But with all that rain, and the slope of the area I covered, I bet the roundup made it a lot deeper into the ground than it would have if it hadn't rained so damn much this year.

I'll leave it and see if it snaps back next year before I cut it down.

On TV and the local newspapers, they say you can get Non-Hodgekins Lymphoma, a cancer of the blood from using it. Anyone know if there is any truth behind that?

WHO says maybe, EPA says no. CA says everything causes cancer or reproductive harm.

So there you go, a yes, a no and a maybe and nobody here knows if there is any truth behind any of it.

As for a jury finding so, well one jury found OJ innocent, another found him liable. Juries are a poor substitute for testing.

I use it. I wear gloves and I don't breathe it. I also don't use but maybe 10 gallons a year of the mixed stuff, which is who knows how much of the chemical in question, much less that 10 gallons.

All good points, but nearly everything ever found to cause cancer definitively, was often over a period of time. There are many examples. I suspect the same here.
Your best point, relying on a jury verdict to decide, is like having your neighbor do your child's brain surgery.

I'd like to stop, but its a very effective growth killer. At my age, the lymphoma would likely have to take a number.

I'd just hate to have future generations deal with my stubbornness, hence the half life original question..

Guys follow the directions. DONT MIX IT HOT! It just burns off the foliage and the same weeds roots are alive and they grow new leaves. When you spray it the weeds should look normal for a week, then shrivel up and die by 2 weeks. Do you think they will tell you the amount to use that won’t work? Why would they do that? if anything they should tell you to use more so you will buy another jug of it.

And you don’t have to soak the weeds, just get a small amount on the broad leaf. Don’t use it on wet foliage. Don’t spray it on and then mow the grass. Won’t help to soak the dirt, it goes in the leaf only.

It kills broad leaf plants that are green and alive. It doesn’t prevent seeds from sprouting. It is not a pre emergent. It won’t bother seeds. Not very good on grass. It will kill your trees, especially when you want to keep them.

It doesn’t care if it is killing a plant or an animal, like a human. Yes the cancer risk is real. We will find out how bad in the future.

Probably RM43, it has 43% Glyphosate while Roundup has a little more. Most of the weed killers contain Glyphosate and that's the component that supposedly causes harm.

I believe it depends on the individual, some folks will react to certain chemicals while others won't. I will continue to use Roundup until it's no longer available or I'm worm food.

RM43 works better than round up for me. I just bought another 2.5 gallons at Tractor Supply on sale for 90.00.

I believe it's true, but it was mainly (if not solely) people working in agricultural industry and heavily exposed. That said, I still would rather use caution, and not breath it.

I stopped using Roundup a few yrs ago after hearing about Monsanto. The next time I needed weed killer I looked at the active ingredient % in Roundup, found the next closest % to that and mixed it a bit stronger and been doing just fine.
