I am trying to replace the elastic that holds the top of the back plastic window up in my 65 dodge Polara, I would like to remove the back of the top up so I can put a new elastic piece in but this chrome strip has me puzzled, how do you remove it, it seems to slide on channels. Anybody run across this before and have any idea how to remove it without damaging it

I replaced the top on my 65 dodge coronet. I believe that the chrome strip on yours is not stock. The stock strip is folded back on its self after it has been stapled to the rear bow (hiding the staples). Then the metal end caps are screwed in place. Factory manual has detailed instructions.

In thinking about it after my post. I'm wondering if it's a snap over the channel (retainer) type thing. The edges on the reatiner in the manual picture appear to be curled. Think drip rail molding. Take an end screw out and proceed with caution twocents
