Got a 71 GTX with B5 interior.
All the belts are date matched but.......they are black?

Late built car.

(Also, has a bench seat 4 speed heel pad carpet.
Looks like they used up what they had to ship the car).

Wonder if that is why it has black belts.

Chrysler Corp went to all black seat belts late in the '71 model year

what's your car's SPD, what month is on the door sticker?

According to a buddy that worked in the St.Louis plant and said he had the actual carpet install job at that time (71) all 4 speed cars got black carpet.
It had been brought up at one of our Wednesday evening guys night because on of the guys has a 71 GTX B-5 Blue with a B-5 Blue interior, U Code, Air Grabber 4 speed car with a blue interior with black carpet. (The car still had the original carpet in it when he bought it in the 90's).

He said automatics had different colors that matched the interior, but 4 speed were all black carpet.

He hired in back in 1967 and just retired from Chrysler a few ago, when they closed the plants here he transferred to a PDC (Parts Distribution Center) in Dallas. Almost 50 years at Chrysler.

My car has the original carpet - the supplier’s tag is on the back - dated and all.

It’s blue with a 4 speed.

Belts are black.

The whole interior is original.

What does the tag on your belts show?

Can you post a pic of the tag ? Are the belts original to the car?

While far from an expert on this topic, I have had the understanding that earlier cars with 4-speed received a black carpet, but in 1971 it was matching:
