If you listen very closely within the clatter, you can hear the sweet sound of a high pitch revving SMALL block ^^opar.

Probably a 427 SMALL block in that Malibu. It's running strong too.
Was surprised to not see the common signature "twisted pretzel launches" those cars inherently do.

By its status at top end, I would say it has a ladder rear suspension.

. Believe it or not it is a leaf spring conversion with caltracs.. typically 60 foot better than my car although it is a 3 speed which I'm sure helps

I sit corrected.
Yeah, it looked darn good on the lift off and it was going to be a tree chopping battle which you won, but also it looks like you increasingly opened the gap up top anyway.

Not to turn this into a back in the day street sweeper stakes, but here goes anyway. LOL.
I ReMEMBER running a Malibu wagon one night. I was told that it ran real good on the smack and he was told that my car ran good out the back.
He was staged on my left and I on the right. I'll never forget it. He left while I was dozing off on the couch watching channel 11 news (I slept hard) and I could see his left front fender edge through his windshield, that's how twisted that thing got.
Anyways, I delivered his agony of defeat at the Amen corner when my cylinders started making steam.
He later told me he knew that my car was a top end thug and he needed to scoot right out of the chute.

Good run.
You make us proud and anxious to read/hear more. We can't get enough.
